THE four girls travelled down the hall chuckling about the desperate boys trying to get a girl alone to ask them to the yule. Moon knew Ginny was secretly hoping Harry would ask her, the redhead's crush had been ongoing for over 2 years. Astreria had been quite quiet about the subject of who she was going with.
"Maybe if I send flowers to myself it will make me more desirable, then there's a chance-"
"Let me stop you right there, Ginny. That - just - no don't do that." They all came to a halt in the hallways staying on the side as the rush hour passed by.
"You could always use a love potion," Luna suggested as she took a bite out of the chocolate she was holding.
"No, I'm not going to be that type of girl." Ginny sounded as if Luna had offended her deeply. This got Luna and Moon chuckling.
"Well by the way you're acting you're becoming THAT girl." Moon stole a piece of Luna chocolate and was chewing on it before going back for more. "You don't need to send yourself flowers or make love potions to get a guy I'm sure someone that's very nice will ask you."
"I got asked by Seamus," Ginny and Moon turned to Luna in shock, their mouths hung open as they began to ask her millions of questions.
"Could you just once maybe tell use what is going on in your life? Do you know about this Ria?" The trio's attention drifted to the brunette who was staring off dreamingly. On the other side of the room, Donna Xue stood with a year six Hufflepuff boy. Donna's short black swayed as she chatted excitedly to the boy next to her. Donna was a year five Gryffindor, she was known for being a great Quidditch player and the top of her class in Care of Magical Creatures. "Ria, are you okay?" Mackenzie asked her another question, snapping the girl out of her daze. A light blush covered her cheeks when she realized she was being watched.
"How do you know Donna?" Luna inquired as she pulled out another candy bar since she and Moon had finished the first one.
"I don't- we talked at the dance lesson- we don't know each other." Astreria stuttered attempting to pull her friends towards their next class, but they held their stance. "Okay, I was going to ask her to the ball but I already know she'll say no."
"Then who are you going to go with?" Ginny wrapped her arms around Astreria's forearm.
"You?"
"No Astreria this is your chance, take it, you might not get another," The youngest Weasley gripped her shoulders shaking her slightly.
"Okay! Okay! But I don't know-how. She's talking to Jaspal Guest." Astreria covered her face with her face.
"I do," Moon marched over to the duo, fading into the students dashing to their next class. She passed by the Hufflepuff and Gryffindor before 'accidentally' tripped over air taking Jaspal with her. The blonde landed on top of the poor boy. " Oh no. I... am... so... sorry..." Taking this as her signal Astreria forced her way through the crowd to Donna. Moon watched as Astreria nervously fiddled with her hand as she stammered out the question. A wide grin found it's placed on the older girls face as they hugged and parted ways.
"Could you get off me?" Jaspal's voice interrupted Moon's trail of thoughts.
"Oh right sorry,"

Moon stood pondering at the lake, the girl had wrapped up in as many jumpers she could find to protect her from the bitter weather, half of the jumpers consistent of stolen Weasley sweaters from Ron and Harry. A scarf 'borrowed' from Fred rested on her shoulders as well as a beanie that George owns on her head. Snow covered her eyelashes and nose. She thought about all her friends having dates to the yule ball; Luna had ended up going with Seamus; Ginny had been asked out by Dean this morning. Astreria was already coordinating her and Donna's outfits. Hermione had surprisingly been asked out by Victor Krum. And now she had to arrive on her own; she knew it wasn't the end of the world, though she felt slightly disappointed. For deep inside, she knew the one she wished had asked.
"I've been up since midnight," I familiar voice said in the distance. Moon turned her head and spotted Neville stoking down the hill in quite a rush. He came tumbling to a stop in front of her. She stumbled a bit back placing a hand to her beating heart. "And I just-i'm just going to say- I want to say, willyougototheballwithme?" His arm came from behind his back, presenting a beautiful hand-picked bouquet of flowers. Sunflowers. This course Moon to stammer and raise her eyebrows. "You don't- don't feel pressured to answer-you don't- I don't know why I asked,"
"I'd love too," Neville glanced up trying to find lies in her words, his heart stop beating for a second when he saw her smile. Something came over him and he rushed up to the girl, snuggling her in a hug, picking her up and spinning around.
"I'm sorry it took me so long," Giggles toppled out of her mouth as her hair flow everywhere. He placed her down, staring into her eyes. Mackenzie moved in and placed a small kiss on his cheek.
"Merci." Embarrassed she quickly grabbed her back and stumbled up the hill. When she reached out of his earshot, she squealed with delight, jumping around doing a happy dance.

"This is mad. At this rate, we'll be the only ones in our year without dates." Ron complained to his friends that sat around him trying to complete the homework Snape had given them. An irritated Professor Snape strode passed Ron, slapping him on the head. The red-head cringed and bowed his head down. "Well, us and Neville!" Hearing the boy's name Moon's head shot up glaring at the oblivious Gryffindors.
"But then again he can take himself." Harry jabbed back. This made Moon even more enraged, she clenched her jaw and fisted her hands. Hermione placed a hand on her arm giving it a squeeze.
"It might interest you to know that Neville's already got someone." This made Harry and Ron grasp glancing up at Moon and Hermione.
"Now I'm really depressed."
Mackenzie turned to Hermione and sneered into her ear, "he will be when he catches these hands."
"Well Hermione, you're a girl." Ron pointed out.
"Well spotted, why don't you ask Moon?" The browned-haired girl roller her eyes, rather annoyed with both boys. Mackenzie elbowed her in the chest.
"Well, I thought she was already going with someone,"
"Moon?" Harry desperately pleaded to her.
"No offence but no Harry. Besides, it's rather depressing to go to a ball with your cousin. And no Ron I'm not going with you." The two boys twisted back to the brunette.
"Come on. It's one thing for a bloke to show up alone. For a girl, it's just sad." Hermione's face fell outraged and offence consumed it.
"I won't be going alone because believe it or not someone's asked me." Hermione picked up her parchment and handed it to Professor Snape before coming back and grabbing Moon's arm.
"And she said yes." The blonde girl sent them a dirty look before paraded out.
