THE sky was black, the only light provided was that of house windows and a couple of street lamps. The cold air whipped fiercely around the young couple as they each held a bundle close to their chests hoping to provide some warmth. Auburn hair sat around the woman's shoulders; her pale arms clutched her 11-month-old son. Her emerald eyes looked into his identical ones. Though his hair wispy took after his father's black locks. His father stood next to his wife holding another bundle, his cousin to be more specific. She was 10 months old and asleep in the brown-eyed man's arms. As her cousin she was his responsibility, however, the brewing war said differently. He'd already been forced into hiding, and millions of death eaters were searching for his child. The Potter's were no longer suitable to look after the young Nightshade so they stood in the vacant alley-way waiting...
"Are you sure she said to meet her here?" The ginger-haired lady's impatience got the best of her.
"Yes Lil, this is exactly where her letter said she would meet us." Lily's husband tried to convince her.
"You triple checked." She kept going, it had been over an hour since the meeting time. They didn't want to be outside longer then they had too. It was dangerous times, they could only trust themselves. The married couple started bickering but went silent when they saw the silhouette of a woman appear at the end of the alley. She stood tall, her frame held confidence. Her heels clicked against the wet pavement as she drew closer. Her walk even held importance like she expected everyone to bow down. The dress she wore showed power and money. The older woman's salt and pepper hair was pulled into a perfect bun, not one hair out of place. Stopping in front of the couple holding the babies.
"Potters." The new woman nodded at the both of them, they mirrored her action.
"Aunty Mary- Anne, right on time," James replied sarcastically, getting an elbow in the rip from Lily. Mary-Anne pursed her lips and looked down at the blonde-haired baby in James' arms.
"I'm here to collect the... kid." She spoke with annoyance laced in her tone. Mary never enjoyed spending time with kids, you could even say she hated it. When she found out that her sister had had one she cut all contact. The sibling rivalry continued as the three sisters fought for their parent's love, it was messed up but it was their family. While her sister settled down and got married, she left with a hopeless job and a hopeless love life.
"She has a name, it's Mackenzie." The black-haired man glared at her and held the baby close to him to protect her from the wretched woman.
"Right of course, but when this all blows over she goes back to you, that's the deal." Both young adults give each other a look; James had always had a disliking towards his aunt and now Lily could see why. Lily passed a rock-sack to Mary-Anne who held it at the tips of her fingers like it was poison, looking at it with disgust.
"It's got everything she needs, nappies, bottles, toys..." It took everything in Lily not to glare at the nasty woman who would look after her husband's baby cousin that she thought of as her niece. She signalled to James to pass the young baby girl over. He stared down at the sleeping child, kissing her forehead and wishing her well. With hesitation, he handed her over. After one final goodbye that they didn't know would be their last, Mary-Anne left with the child in her arms and apparated out of Lavenham, England to Colmar, France.
A/N I'm basing this book on the Harry Potter books as well as the movies. Comment what you think so far.
Some of you might be confused as to how Harry's related to her, his Grandma (has two sisters) ones Mackenzie's mother the other is her aunt Mary-Anne.
