Cassidy POV
*Weeks later*
Weeks have passed since that awful day. I wish I could say that my life went back to normal, instead I’ve been more quieter and jumpy than usual.
I don’t know what have become of Mr Colden, however dad said he had handled it. My absence has definitely sparked rumours. I know I shouldn’t pay attention to them (I mean it’s high school) but the things they say about me...
All rumours are about Mr Colden. They assume I have something to do with it. Well partially they are right.
Some of the rumours say that I have been seeing Mr Colden.Yep definitely high school.
I have volunteered to help our schools secretary organise her files and just run errands for her. They keep me busy and away from the other students. ‘Space to breath.'
But then I remember it’s high school.
When Ms Andino went to have her tea break I found myself going through the files that had the teacher’s personal information in them.
When I came to Mr Colden’s file I found it empty. No residential address. No background or family. Its like he never existed.
I quickly place the files back in its place and close the drawer. By the time Ms Andino came back from her tea break I had done all that I needed to do and made my way home.
I strolled slowly along the sidewalk. I’ve been walking home a lot lately. I try to avoid Lyssa as best I can. The only thing that’s on her mind right now is prom. She has been trying to get me to go but honestly I would rather die.

It’s prom night and I’m more nervous than usual. After days of annoying bantering I finally gave in to Lyssa.
My dress is a beige colour and the skirt is poofy. It only goes until above my knees. My hair is pinned up into a high bun with minimal makeup. Yes I know a little simple for prom. Well if I didn’t want to go in the first place why even bother. Besides I doubt anyone would glance in my direction.
My dad pops his head through my door. “Are you ready sweetheart?,” he asks. I nod and add a faint smile. He then makes his way downstairs with me following his tracks.
🦋Two cars colliding🦋
A gasps escapes my lips causing me to pause in my steps. I freeze up mid stairs in fear. “You okay sweetie?,” my dad notices that my presence disappeared from behind him. I shake it off and continue down the stairs.
Dad hands me the keys of his Volvo. I didn’t want to a burden to Lyssa and Bryson.

After arguing with myself I finally convince my body out the car and enter the building.
The hall is full of people. ‘Duh, of course it is.’
I grab a drink and head outside. My skin welcome the cool air. It feels refreshing. I find an isolated bench and take a sip of the punch.
I wonder if I’ll find Axel here. I haven’t seen him at school recently. Its not like I was trying to find him anyway. Lately I’ve been trying anything that would limit my contact with other students. What if he heard the rumours? And if so, does he believe them?
I sit in the cold for a good two hours. Contemplating whether or not to go back inside.
I see Bryson walking towards me without Lyssa. He takes a seat next to me. I ask him where Lyssa is. “I doon’t knoww or maybe I doon’t care,” he laughs. His words are slurred.
