"Gilmore Girls" (One Shots) - Book 2

~Oh come on, Mom~ (3x11)

~Author's Note~

In, "Season 3, Episode 11: I Solemnly Swear" Emily is being sued for wrongful termination. Emily asks Lorelai to do a deposition, and testify about Emily's character.

Then at Friday night dinner that next day Emily, who had gotten the transcript of her deposition. What Lorelai said didn't impress Emily so she, when Lorelai and Rory come to Friday night dinner the next night. Emily thought would be good idea to read out loud parts of her deposition out loud. 

This is written in Lorelai's POV, and maybe a little bit in No one's POV. Hope you enjoy reading this!

(Lorelai's POV)

I watch Mom, stand up and walk around the back of the couch. 

"What are you doing, Mom"? I ask. 

She turns around and looks at me, and says, "I thought that I would read something out loud while we are waiting for dinner to be served".

I looked at Mom stunned, "what is she getting"?

I saw Mom pick up a thick stack of papers, and then walk around the couch and go and sit back down in her chair. 

"What are you going to read Mom", I ask.

"You will see, Lorelai", she said.

I sigh. I'm hoping it's not what I think it is. 

Mom, looked down and started reading from the stack of papers.

"Question. Would you say that your mother was difficult to work for"? Mom started. 

"Oh, come on Mom. Seriously"?? I said. "How did you get that? I thought that was kept secret".

Mom just put her hand up and kept on reading. 

"Answer: Um, sure", Emily said, sighing. 

"Mom, come on stop", I shot. I don't believe that she is reading this to you".

Emily puts her hand up to stop her, and continued reading. 

"Question: Could you tell me a time when your mother ever reacted to something or a situation that she totally overacted. Answer: There are so many. How much time do you have".

Mom, after reading the second question put the stack of papers down and looked at me and said, "Well thanks Lorelai. You just have made this worse for me".

(Move to No one's POV)

Lorelai looked at Emily, and said, "Mom. I'm sorry".

Emily just looked at Lorelai and said, "Do you actually care about what you might have just did"?

"Mom. Look! I wasn't going to lie for you", Lorelai said. 

"And, you thought that you had to lie to testify on my behalf"? Emily asked.

"Mom, please. Let's not do this, please. Not now", Lorelai said, trying to get Emily to stop. 

Just before Emily said something else. The maid comes into the room and said that dinner was ready. 

Lorelai jumped up and Rory followed her, she was relieved that she didn't have to listen to Emily read out loud her deposition. But, as soon as Lorelai walked past Emily, she whispered in her ear and said, "we are not finished back talking about this".

Lorelai rolled her eyes, and continued to walk into the dining room, as fast as she could. She hoped that Emily, after dinner she would forget about it and she wouldn't have to listen to Emily reading her deposition anymore.
