Why is this happening

3rd POV
'Not this again' Luz thought looking around in the darkness. She was at the bridge again. Her mentor using the last ounce of magic she had to save her. Eda's struggle was visible but she didn't let that stop her from saving Luz. "Alright kid, listen to me. I'm going away for a while and I'm not sure if I can bounce back this time. Watch over king, remember to feed Hooty." Eda said. Luz tried her hardest to fight against her paralysis to help Eda. "NO NO NO! NOT AGAIN! I CANT LOSE YOU AGAIN!" Luz shouted, tears running down her face. "And Luz, thank you. For being in my life." Eda said taking a knee while sending Owlbert off to fly Luz back up to the bridge.

Luz sprinted over to Eda's motionless body. "Eda? Please just say something. Anything!" Luz begged while shaking her body. Nothing. Eda's chest wasn't even rising or falling to breath. "No no no, please." Luz begged and began to check for a heart beat. She put her ear to her chest. Nothing. Luz was about to try and start Eda's heart again but before she could she was ripped away from her. "Forget. She's gone and there's nothing you can do about it." Said a dark voice. A red aura surrounded Eda as her lifeless body was tossed off the side of the bridge to the spikes below. Luz rushed over to try and catch her but she was too late. "If only you were stronger. Perhaps this wouldn't have happened. This is all your fault. You weren't strong enough." Said the sickening voice that Luz can only recognize as Emperor Belos. The voices surrounded her again. Getting louder and louder. So loud to the point were here ears started to feel like they were about to explode as she felt her brain pounding against her skull. She wasn't able to save her. She never was able to.
