Chapter 3
The roll is fixed. As far as he remembers, he left it open yesterday. So whoever fixed that had probably read the letter already. Damn, he was about to keep it a secret, but he was devastated by his anger and got drunk. His room was clean when he woke up; he was so drunk yesterday, but he remembers everything. His memory is good; he's sure of every detail that happened. But he wasn't sure of the person who entered his room; the person was concealed in a hat and big attire. Nevertheless, one thing is confusingly certain: The person doesn't feel like a boy at all.
"Who cleaned my room?" He asked as his servants put on his attire for the day.
"I apologize, your majesty, for I have no idea who. But I'm sure it was a servant," the head of the servants replied.
"Go and call a sentry," he commanded.
The head servant immediately followed. It didn't take long. The royal sentry guarding the Emperor's hallway came as requested. The man immediately kneeled down to pay respect. "Your majesty."
"Who walked in my room yesterday?" Emperor Macsen did not waste any time. There's something he wants to know. And there's this feeling that he doesn't understand.
The sentry replied. "He was a servant who delivers liquors, your majesty. He was holding a box full of bottles. He is one of the servants who works in the field."
The emperor sighed and said. "Describe."
The tension has risen once again. The emperor looks so serious that the servants can't help but be afraid of his reaction. It looks like he's dissatisfied with everything that happened yesterday. The worst probable outcome is that the person who has entered might die since the emperor has been asking about him nonstop. What did this person do, anyway?
"Small and petite. I apologize, your majesty; due to their attire, his identity was hidden. I have not seen the person's face at all," the sentry replied. "But I'm certain he was short for a man."
The Emperor frowned. "Do you know anyone who can't speak in my palace?" He asked everyone, but the servants, including the sentry, shook their heads.
"I'm not sure, your majesty," the head servant responded. "So far, I have not yet encountered anyone in the palace who can't speak."
The Emperor sighed and fixed his suit. He's looking majestic as always. He is the most handsome man in the empire. Despite his attitude, no one can ever counter his looks, and no one can speak badly about them. For he holds such enchanting features. He looks impeccable, so maybe the celestial has put a stain on his attitude, so he could be a man who's not perfect. Because nobody's perfect. Well, the only good thing about the Vassilys is their appearance and their ability to rule. But everything about their attitude is probably a curse.
The people fear his crimson eyes, but that eye color runs in their clan. It signifies their blood—the blood of Vassilys. It glimmers against the sun, making everyone drop their jaws in awe and fear. He stood against the window and let the sun set in his room. He was blessed by the rays, which made him feel good. The rays transcended his thick clothes, reaching his pale and scarred skin.
He's irritated so early in the morning. He's sobber now; he feels like going berserk again, but he has plans for the day rather than ruining his own mood. His hair has already been done, and he's ready to go out and scare everybody. Let everyone know about the roll and about his upcoming combat then. He's certain he won't lose; after all, he's the wisest among the Vassilys. He declared that a long time ago, and he's going to prove it.
"Fuck, nevermind. Go get my horse. I'm going to unwind today," he told his head servant, and it immediately followed.
Everything moved fast, and before they knew it, the Emperor was already in the field with his favorite horse named Goody. The weather was good, and the wilds look fascinating. But the Emperor wasn't the only noble there. The head commander of the Empire was present, as was the Lord from the Giordano house, one of the biggest manor owners in his empire. They're probably trying to have fun, and he just appeared to shatter their plans.
"Hail, the emperor has come! Greetings to your majesty," Lord Giordano greeted. "This humble Lord wishes his majesty to have a good day."
"Greetings, your majesty." The Chief commander also greeted.
Emperor Macsen did not even glance at them. He just focused on taming and fixing his horse. He's about to invade the whole field later. The Lord and the chief commander fell silent around him. The weather is really great, and the servants from the palace came to clean. For an unknown reason, the Emperor's eyes were fixed on the familiar servant standing in the crowd. It was that person!
"I have never seen anyone so beautiful as that boy," Lord Giordano said. Emperor Macsen did not like the Lord's opinion, however. He was irritated; suddenly, he wanted to shoo the Lord away.
"Commander, let's race." He challenged the Chief to divert his own attention away from the servants.
The Chief commander immediately accepted his challenge. "A pleasure, your majesty."
They did not take long to settle. The emperor got on his horse, and the commander did as well. This happens at times, and the Emperor only challenges the commander. They started the race, and they immediately conquered the entire oval, making everyone run to the side and out of the fences. The servants stopped cleaning up to look at the steeplechasing horses. After the entire lap, the Emperor arrived first, making him the winner.
"As expected, your majesty's greatness never ceases." Lord Giordano praised him, but the Emperor did not even notice him.
He hopped down and glanced at the servants. They were back to cleaning up the field. He frowned when he realized the familiar person wasn't looking his way. He sighed and commanded his head servant. "Call them and let them clean the horses."
The chief commander immediately opposed, "But your majesty, the horses might go berserk. They have no idea about those persons. Let me call the—"
"Did I stutter?" He glared.
The chief commander immediately bowed down. "I'm sorry."
The servants were called to clean up their spot and wash the horses as well, due to the Emperor's request. The emperor glanced over at the familiar person, who was clearly avoiding him. He gnashed his teeth, and for some reason he felt annoyed. He was waiting for his horse to get cleaned by the shorty. But the way that person avoids him pisses him off.
"Hey, you!" He called, making everyone halt due to his demanding voice.
The shorty immediately followed and signed. "Your majesty."
He smirked. He found the right person. "Why don't you clean my horse? Do you want to get fired?"
"I'm sorry. I'll clean it right away."
Everyone was shocked when his horse started thrashing around as the men held it up to be cleaned. Emperor Macsen knew it would happen, and he purposely commanded Shorty to do it to shock the poor servant. He thought Goody would attack Shorty, but what the fuck? The servant tamed the horse. His horse stopped immediately after being touched, and Emperor Macsen got more mad.
"Fuck!" He cursed in annoyance.
"Huff, that scared me. I thought Goody would really go berserk. Good thing he was tamed. Your horse is definitely kind, your majesty." Lord Giordano said nervously.
"Fuck off," he said, obviously pissed off. He didn't let the servant finish cleaning his horse. He walked to claim Goody's back. "That's enough; I'm going to go back."
"But your majesty, I'm not done yet." Shorty signed.
He just rolled his eyes. "Did I ask for your opinion?"
Everyone fell silent. His rudeness could ruin the entire world's day. He continued with an insulting tone. "Now let my horse go, and I shall now leave. Or do you want to get fired right this instant?"
The servant bowed in fear. "I apologize, your majesty. Please spare me."
"Tsk, criminal," he whispered, but he made sure it would reach that person. And he was successful; he left with a satisfied smirk when he saw the poor servant shake.
