"You certainly look a lot happier, " Bobby noticed as his adoptive son walked through the door, and for once he didn't have a scowl on his face.
"I made a friend today well sorta, " Dean explained. It wasn't often he said things like that because Dean wasn't exactly good with other people so it was hard for him to make friends. It was one of the reason he always hated going to school, he would have prefered to stay at home and work on cars or find some information on his brother.
The only person he really had to talk to was Lisa, she found him completely drunk and blacked out one night after his first attempt at finding Sam failed. It hit him so hard that he didn't care at that time he was drinking way too much and certainly wasn't expecting a pretty girl to find him and take him to the hospital. The two had been inseparable since that night and Dean eventually worked up the courage to ask her out.
"a friend you say, where did you meet him or her? " Bobby asked eager to hear more about this situation. He just hoped that Dean didn't go out drinking again, he was still recovering from his last trip to a bar.
"Yesterday after I got no information on Sammy, I went to the roadhouse and this teen was the one serving me. " Dean said and he could feel Bobby tense up at the words.
"Dean you didn't drink too much again did you? " Bobby asked a bit worried to know the answer.
"I was careful Dad I promise, anyway
his family owns the place and we talked for a bit, the next thing I know I wake up the next morning in my car and the kid is being picked on by bullies so I saved him. " Dean explained and he smiled a bit after finishing his story.
He could still remember how the kid's lame jokes actually got him to laugh which he hardly ever did nowadays.
"Quite a story I don't think I have seen you this happy since Lisa agreed to be your girlfriend, what's the kid's name? " Bobby asked.
"Believe it or not his name was Samuel, that's a mouthful though if I ever see the kid again I'm giving him a nickname. " Dean said and after he said that he wondered if he ever would see the kid again. He couldn't work out why though? What was it about this teen that made his soft side come out?
"Well I am glad that you found someone you can connect with, being alone all the time isn't good for your health, " Bobby commented and as he said that he wondered if this Sam was the little brother that Dean refused to stop looking for. He knew all about his son's life mission of finding his brother, anytime Dean left for awhile and came back either furious, distraught or even both he knew that Dean had found nothing.
"I know and it suprises me a little bit that only after one interaction with the kid, there seems to be this unspoken connection that I can't explain. " Dean admitted, he wasn't one to believe in things like fate or destiny but if there was one thing he learned in his life, both while on the hunt or any other place. Was that nothing ever happened by accident, so meeting this kid wasn't just a coincidence, something was going to happen because of it.
"Well boy if you want my advice, I say you keep your eyes on the kid, " Bobby suggested as after hearing Dean's story he was sure that Dean had just found his brother, but he wanted the two of them to figure who the other was. If he just told Dean what he was thinking, his son would just laugh and say that 'if it was Sammy he would know, '
"Believe me I don't plan on letting him get hurt Dad, but finding my brother has to be my first priority, " Dean responded.
On the other side of town, inside a jai cell sat John Winchester. He had been locked up in prison for years ever since the police found out that he left his son's alone. What did they know? The officers weren't aware of what happened to his wife, or how she was killed and above all they had no idea of why he left his kids. There was something evil inside his youngest boy, he had demon blood inside him. Which is why he needed the kid to die, but first he needed to escape and after more than a decade of waiting in this tiny cell, it was time he made his move.
