Serial Killer

  The next day, when Sophia arrived she saw a lot of reporters and camera men standing infront her office building.

           “What’s going on out there?” She asked the receptionist when she entered the building.

          “The press is here to ask a few questions from Mr. David, he refused to tell them about anything but these people won’t seem to budge.” The girl at the reception explained.

          Sophia sighs and walks toward the lift pushing the 5th floor button.

      The lift doors slid open before she walks out only to be met by the person who ruined her life. Walking out of David’s office was no other but the chairman of the most powerful political party HARRY LIAM. The person who was a monster underneath those polite looks.

       The man who took her Parents from her. Lucky for him that he survived the car crash, the accident his drunk state that caused nineteen years ago.

           After seeing that face she stood frozen on her spot as that man walks pass her followed by two guards’ ignoring her presence. Taking a deep breath she slowly walks to her cabin. As she was sitting in her cabin lost in her thoughts, she didn’t even notice that Emma was shaking her.

         “Sophia ...... What’s wrong, why are you crying and you look so pale as if you have seen a ghost?” Emma asked.

            She wipes her tears which she didn’t noticed “Nothing.... I’m fine Emma.” She said with a blank expression “No something is definitely not fine, tell me what is it.” Emma said sitting next to her.

            “This man, Harry Liam is the cause of that accident; he is the one who took my everything.” Sophia said as Emma hugged her.

             “Sophia the thing is that........ Oh just leave it.” Emma said cutting herself off.

           “What is it Emma?” Sophia said pulling away. “No, it’s nothing important at all.” Emma said.

           “Emma you sure that --” Sophia gets cut off by the noise coming from outside.  

               As all the employees walk towards the window including Sophia and Emma to see the reporters protesting outside the building.

             “They have a right to know about this.” Sophia says as she walks towards David’s office. Sophia knocks on the door and walks in before he could even respond.

             As he sees her he drops the papers on the table crossing his arms over his chest and raises his eye brow still sitting in his seat.

            “Mr. David there are some people out there who wanna see you.” She says crossing her arms aswell.

          “Why? What do they want?” David asked smirking, playing dumb.

          “Oh come on David you know what they want. They are not asking for much, just go out there and answer their questions.” Sophia said annoyed by his attitude.

           “You know what Ms. Harvey, I just have a better idea.” He said as he brings the phone reviser to his ear.

            “Hello, yes I’m talking from Lockwood agency; yeah actually there are some- hello, hello?” David says as he looks up to see that Sophia had disconnected the call and her finger still on the red button.

          “You are not gonna do this to them.” Sophia warns him. This made David give Sophia a death glare as he stands up from his seat.

         “You want me to answer them, fine I’ll do it but remember miss my answers are gonna leave nothing but more fear.” David says as he walks out of his office.

           Sophia takes a deep breath and turned around to walk out but Emma and Jason came in. “Sophia.... What happened? Why was David so angry?”

         “Cuz I just made him agree with the idea of answering those reporters out there against his will....” Sophia says “Before he could call the cops.” She completes her sentence.

         “Did he try to call the cops so that he could move those reporters away from here?” Jason asked to which Sophia nodded her head.

         “He’s insane.” Emma says with a sigh. “We should better go and check out what he says.” Jason said as three of them walk out.

     Outside the building, As soon as David steps out all the reporters run towards him surrounding him and bombarded him with questions like ‘was it the same person who killed the president’s daughter’ , ‘Is there a serial killer behind this’ and all.

      “I’m not here to answer those questions.” David said. “The only thing I wanna say is that beware of your surroundings and do not trust anyone. No one knows who this guy is, but he would be caught soon, thank you.” With that he turned around and walked back in and saw Emma, Jason and Sophia standing by the reception.

         “You happy now? Remember, if the people are scared then it’s because of you Ms. Harvey.” He said and walked away.

           Later that day, Sophia and Emma were sitting at the café drinking coffee as an idea popped in Sophia’s head.

             “Emma, what do you say if we borrow a few files from David’s office?” Sophia says.

             “What if he finds out?”Emma asked. “We’ll put them back before he even notices.” Sophia said.

        “Next time I’ll tell Jane to put the same thing in my coffee so that my brain could work like yours.” Emma says which makes Sophia laugh.

         Both of them walk in his office and to their surprise the office was empty.

        “I guess he’s still not back from lunch. This is gonna be easy to take the files.” Emma said and Sophia nodded and both of them started looking through his drawers and cupboards.

         Sophia was looking through some files her eyes landed on something.

           As she read it her eyes widened and he dropped the papers from her hands and held the table’s edge to support herself.

           Tears filled in her eyes as she repeated it in her head again and again.

             “Found’em.” Emma said as she got the files and turned to Sophia. Her facial expression changed from happiness to confusion as she saw Sophia.

            “Sophia, what happened?” Emma asked confused.

            “You knew about this, didn’t you Emma.” Sophia said as tears flowed down her face. “What are you talking about Sophia?” Emma asked still confused.

            “You knew that David was Harry Liam’s son that’s why you tried to changes the topic.” Sophia said.
