Serial Killer

“FREEZE, DON’T MOVE.” Sophia yells as the boy turns around slowly.

    Sophia and Emma’s eyes go wide due to shock as they see the person in front of them.

          “JASON........” Both of them shout in unison.

         The boy takes an advantage of their shocked state and runs towards the window and jumps out of it after glancing back.

         “HEY, STOP!!” Emma yells as they both run towards the window.

     “Why didn’t you shoot him? She said as both of them run out of the building.”

         “I can’t hurt him Emma.” Sophia said as she puts her gun back into her waistband.

         “Shit, I think we lost him.” Emma said kicking at the wheels of the car.

          “If he was really Jason, he won’t show up in the office tomorrow and if he did...... we’ll catch him and tell David about this.” Sophia said.

           The next day, Emma and Sophia were waiting outside David’s office when Jason walked out holding a cup of coffee. As soon as Emma spotted Jason she launched at him grabbing his neck, chocking the boy as the cup in his hand drop to the ground.

             “Gotchyaa! Where is the girl Jason? Where is Abigail?” Emma asked catching everyone’s attention. At this noise David walks out of his office.

           “Jason tell us where she is.....now.” Sophia shouts at Jason.

       “What’s going on here?” David said with anger and shock at the sight infront of his.

       “This partner of yours, we found him in an abandoned building last night. Ask him why he was blackmailing Abigail, where is she and what has he done with her.” Emma said releasing the boy who falls on the ground in fits of cough.

    “What the hell are you talking about? Jason was at my place last night.” David said defending his partner.

      “That’s true; I don’t know what you are talking about.” Jason said as he gets up on his feet.

       “You lair!” Emma said heading towards Jason before Sophia stopped her.

        “What is all this noise about?” turning the head in the direction of the voice everyone saw Mr. Mckeller standing on the other side. “Four of you; in my office now.” He says as he walks back.

         “What was going on out there?” Mr.Mckeller asked the four of them.

        “Sir, we came to know that the girl Abigail was being blackmailed by someone through social media. And the sender ID led us to an abandoned building where we saw Jason and when we told him not to move he made run like he was caught doing something wrong.” Sophia explained.

       “That’s impossible Mr.Mckeller, Jason and I were together yesterday, we were not even here. I think Ms. Harvey mistook someone for being him.” David said defending his partner.

     “Well, we saw him last night, same height, same hair, same physique..........” Emma said.

      At this Jason’s eyes widened in horror, as what he said next caught every ones attention. “This can’t be.......”

    "What can’t be, Jason what is it?” asked David.

       “The person you saw last night wasn’t me ............. It was my twin brother James. He’s out of jail and I guess someone helped him escape.” Jason explained.

         “Why was your brother in jail?”Sophia asked.

          “He is a hacker, he worked for mafia’s and gangs to hack other’s accounts and create confidential ID’s that were used for illegal stuff. He was sent to jail when he got caught in a raid one day.” Jason explained.

         “Then what if both of them came up at the same time, how we differ Jason and James.” Sophia asked.

          “The eye color, that’s the only difference between us. My eyes are blue and his eyes are gray.” Jason said.

          Suddenly there was a knock on the door and two police men walked in and stood infront of Mr.Mckeller’s table.

          “Mr.Mckeller, Abigail’s found dead thirty minutes ago in the near the woods.” As those words came out of the policeman’s mouth everyone’s eyes widened in horror.

           “These are a few obstacles we found near the body.” The policeman showed three plastic bags. David takes the bags from the policeman and examines them.

     “It’s the same sign at the end of this note Mr.Mckeller, see” David said giving him the bags.

     “CUTE BUT A STUBBON GIRL, UNTILL NEXT TIME.............J.H.” Mr.Mckeller reads out loud.

       “Another death by the hands of this criminal.” Emma said “More like a serial killer.” Sophia says as she picks a bag with a golden chain from the table.

         “That’s it, I made a decision that from now on the four of you are gonna team up and investigate this case, I want this criminal caught as soon as possible.” Mr. Mckeller said as the four of them stood there stunned.

         “But sir--” David tries to excuse but gets cut off by Mr. Mckeller. “Mr. David the girls have a good approach and I want this case to be solved ASAP. Do you understand?”. “Yes sir.” David says.

         “You’re dismissed now.” Mr. Mckeller said as the four of them walk out unable to object the orders from their boss.

           Later that night, Emma and Sophia were standing outside the Jenson house when the dead body was carried out of the ambulance.

         Mr. Jenson and his wife stood there as she cried her heart out and Lucas seemed at the verge of breaking down.

          The clouds roared and it seemed that the sky would cry any moment now. The wind blowing the white cloth away from Abigail’s face showing the ‘FIRE’ scare on her forehead.

         At this, Lucas shuts his eyes close and walks pass everyone. Sophia follows him and found him sitting on the ground, his back leaning with the wall. Tears falling from his eyes uncontrollably.

          Sophia walks towards the boy and sits next to him leaning against the wall.

        “Why did she had to leave us like this?” Lucas said as he sobbed harder. “I miss my little sister so badly. I wanna tease her, I wanna make fun of her dressing and I wanna piss her off so she can yell at me. Why did this happened.....Why?” Lucas said as more tears roll down his cheeks.

         “You know Lucas, everyone has to die someday; the believe that keeps the alive satisfied is that they are at a better place than us, that they are happy and not in pain anymore, It’s hard when a part of you is missing, but then you just learn to smile, for them and that’s what keeps them alive in our hearts.” Sophia said as Lucas seemed to calm down a little.

          “Is she really happy?” said Lucas as he turns towards Sophia.

          “Yes, and she always loves you.” Sophia said as she pulled out a necklace from her jacket and places it in Lucas’s hand.

          “This necklace....” He said.

         “The police found it. Do you know about it?” Sophia asked.

          “How can I forget. This was the necklace I brought her for her sweet sixteenth.” Lucas said and Sophia gave him a weak smile. Lucas puts the necklace around this neck and smiled “I miss you Abby.” He mutters.

         “Sophia lets go.” Emma said.

         “I have to go now, take care.” Sophia said.

          “Bye detective, and thank you.” Lucas said and Sophia nodded.
