**bell rings** 

Everyone jumps out of their seats darting out the class room. I pick up my purse leaving the room.

As I walk out of the room, I feel an arm wrap around my waist. I look to my side and notice it's Jake.

"Hey babe. Miss me?" he says to me with a playful grin. "Oh yes baby, because being away from you for a period of the school day is so hard for me." I say back sarcastically. He chuckles and I smile.

At the school entrance we catch up with the others. "Aww you too look so cute!" I giggle at Jackie's comment.

"Jake, you could be so mushy at times." I let out a soft laugh turning my head in Billy's direction. Jake punches him in his shoulder.

Everyone starts laughing except for me and Derek. I look over at him, catching him glaring at me. I smile slightly and he smiles back. His perfect smile almost makes me want to faint.

I look down hoping I don't start blushing. We all start walking home.

Jake has an arm wrapped around my waist in a protective way. In a way that kind of says "she's mine touch her you die".

We all part our own ways after walking off the school grounds. Me and Derek start walking home. It's dead silence for the first few minutes, but then he decides to speak up.

"You okay? After all that happen yesterday I've been kind of worried. You are my best friend. I wouldn't want anything to happen to you." My heart flutters at his mention of how worried he was about me. "I'm fine Derek. Just in a little bit of pain where I got tied at."

I looked down at my wrists seeing the rope burns from yesterday. An instant replay of last night goes on in my head.

"Don't cry baby." A smell of alcohol in his breath. I instantly felt the adrenaline running through my veins. I couldn't help but just lay there scared.

My thoughts get interrupted by Derek swinging an arm over my shoulder. I get an instant feeling of protection. I smile at him. He returns my gesture by smiling back. I feel my knees get weak, but I don't let them give out on me.

**Derek P.O.V

Walking home with Cassidy was kinda of awkward. It was silent for a couple minutes.

I'm unsure why, but I think I'm starting to feel something more for Cassidy than I thought. What can I say. We complete each other. As much as I love Jake, Cassidy seriously has something stirring up inside me.
