Am I In Love - Chapter 9

I get up to avoid another awkward moment.. "Everything okay Cass?" Derek says to me. "Uhh.. Yea everything's fine. I just have to go help with dinner.." I say to him as I start for the kitchen. Derek is soon standing right behind me. "Oh hey you two. Need anything?" my mom says to us when she sees us standing by the counter. "Oh no. We just wanted to know if you needed any help with dinner?" Derek says back to her. "Well since you're here, Derek, I need that large bowl over there on the top shelf." I watch as his slim 6'4 figure reaches up to the top shelf  and places the bowl on the counter. "Here you go Mrs. Reyes." "Thank you Derek. You kids can go relax I got the rest from here. Come  back to set the table in about a half hour okay?" She says to me. "Okay mom." I say heading back to the living room. I sit on the couch and Derek right next to me. I lay down placing my head on his lap as he picks up the remote putting on Netflix. "How about we watch some Supernatural?" He says to me as I look at him. "Sure. That sounds great!" I say turning to the t.v. Being here with Derek feels great. He's the best person anyone could ever have in there life. I look at him as he plays with my hair. I slowly begin to fall asleep while Derek sits there and watches me.

*** Derek's P.O.V ***

I sit and watch as Cassidy begins to fall asleep. I stroke her long silky hair. She seems to peaceful and so at ease. I honestly don't know what I'd do if something happened to her. She's like my other half. Anything she feels I feel it too. I look at her wrists noticing the rope burns. I feel my heart drop. She's so innocent and so beautiful. Why did this happen to her? The world is too cruel for a person like Cassidy. "Oh Cass." I say softly, running my hand through her hair. "I'm so sorry this happened to you.." I feel my eyes burning with tears as I run my fingers up her arm . I continue to play with her hair. Jake doesn't have any idea who he's with right now. Not that I don't trust him, I mean in in love with the guy, but Cassidy deserves so much more. Jake is just so lucky to have Cassidy. She's anything anyone could ever ask for. Soon enough I hear her mother yelling from the kitchen. "Hey you guys. Dinner's almost ready! Come set the table!" I look at Cassidy whispering  her name to wake her. "hmm." She moans softly. "Come on. Let's go set the table." I say as she looks up at me. "Do I have to?" she says to me. I laugh softly as I  say, "Come on. Get up." She gets up brushing her hair back away from her face. We head to the kitchen and she begins taking the plates out while I grab the utensils. She places the plates on the table while I walk behind her placing the forks and knives down. She then gets the cups handing a few to me while she places the others onto the table. Her mother looks at us as we set the table. Just as we finish Cassidy"s dad walks in through the front door. Drake runs down the stairs when he hears the door opening. "Daddy's home!" he yells out when he reaches the bottom step. "Hey their son." He says to Drake, both of them heading over to the kitchen where the rest of us are. "Hey the Derek." he says to me "Oh. Hi Mr.Reyes." I say in return as I shake his hand. "Hi daddy." Cass says hugging him. "Hi there sweetheart." He says kissing the top of her head. We all head to the table as Cass and her mother begin to place the food down. "Everything looks delicious honey." says Mr.Reyes as the girls sit down. We Say our prayers and begin to eat.

So i know this chapter's pretty short but I wasn't sure what to do! Comment some ideas on what i should add to the story.
