Chapter 14

Author's Note: Thank you for all the support! I will try to update stories more often. If you are wondering who the heck is Hynnai, well look no further. Some chapters ago (if I recall correctly, in chapter 2) I mentioned that Moon knew another Gailen and that he was her best friend who was killed (yes, through Moon in a dialogue). Well, he was the last Nightingale after the Dragonborn years. His name means "Protector of the Shadowlands". He is one of the stars in Evergloam, guardian and messenger of Moon and the protector of Evergloam to this date. The concept of "stars" will be explained in the story soon enough. Hynnai can take various forms; on Nirn or Mundus he can take the form of a phantom/ghost/spectral Nightingale and a small chubby black bird (he could also be a giant majestic bird, something you will see in this chapter. It is through a spell that can only be casted by Moon). In Evergloam, he can take the shape of a human Nord with a small purple glow around him (or his previous mortal state), able to touch, feel and do various activities and also his state of a Star in the skies of Evergloam; he can also take the bird form if he so wishes. He is a key character in the story and he will have a more active appearance from now on.

There's a pic of Azura on the side.

Moon’s point of view

All I could do now was run. My chest became tight and a cold breeze filled the air. Something shook the Oblivion plains and something fell from the skies. As I turned, I saw a horrid brown creature with big teeth and no feet; he looked incrusted to the ground. I took out Agony in a flash and readied a Shadow Healing Spell. It attacked and scratched my left arm, making a deep gash. I flinched and backed away. I sheathed my sword and activated Death Poison, an expert level Destruction spell which shot a big poison swirl that would melt armor and poison blood with its acidic properties.

A burst of white light, as bright as the sun, blinded my senses and the creature disappeared. My eyes beheld a familiar beauty, which was the only thing that I wanted to see. My aunt and beloved Azura presented herself to me. Her skin was pale and her ears pointed. She wore a sky blue gown and a crown of white roses on top of her majestic hair. She smiled and my tears spilled, it felt like ages since I saw a familiar loved one. The brightness subsided in the wilderness and I could see clearly. My aunt held a sealed letter in her hands. Her figure towered over me as she approached me softly and extended her arms for a loving embrace. I quickly made my way towards her and my tears kept spilling. Her embrace was warm and strong. A light rain began falling as she spoke.

“My child,” her voice sounded soft and mother-like. “It is alright. I am here now. I have a few messages for you. But first, how are you? How have you been? How do you feel? And do not lie to me, young lady.”

“Horrible, this is becoming harder than before.”

“I know, thank you for your honesty. First, I must tell you that what you felt was indeed something. There was an attack on Evergloam, but nothing, major. The Ebonmere was opened by a Mad Mage in order to let a small troop of Golden Saints into Evergloam. The Shades stopped them immediately and killed them. Also, that creature that attacked you was a demented version of a Golden Saint. They were released unto Mundus by Sheogorath in order to keep mortals busy and out of the conflict. There are two versions of the corrupted Saints; the demented, which look horrid, and the maniac, which look like colorful and cute animals. You best be careful.”

“I will, aunt Azura… but the attack…”

“Don’t worry, we got that under control. I must tell you to hurry your way back to Irinhyve and speak with Trimsen. I also bring an artifact for your Gailen. Here is Dawnbreaker, Meridia sent it because she realizes that your Gailen needs it now more than ever. Also, Trimsen will hand you the Ring of Khajiit from Mephala. You explain the properties to your Gailen. Now, you must hurry.”
