I sat and checked my phone, dad messaged me telling me he was doing a double tonight so he wouldn't be home until tomorrow night. I sighed out feeling bad for him, he could have other jobs but he says the mines pay the best and he likes it. I don't know why... I looked around to see a couple of paper cranes folded up and scattered across the floor, they were all different sizes and colours, obviously Lincoln had to have done this but I mean why? I'll ask him later but I found a blue one on the chair behind my head and smiled, I kept that one, blue was my favourite colour. I did my home work and packed it away before heading down to the bleachers, I kept the paper crane in my hands, twirling it and playing with it as I sat and waited for the coach and the players to come out onto the field. I watched Lincoln carefully until the coach called for a water break.

'Hey, you okay? Not too cold?' I shook my head as I sat with his hoodie on, the hood up as I watched.

'Did you make this for me?' I asked showing him the crane and he shrugged.

'My therapist said that they're a good way to deal with negative energy, so every time I feel sad or upset or angry or what ever I make these.'

'Were you still mad?'

'No, they don't really work when I'm mad, it's more for when I get anxious or sad or what ever.'

'So you were sad?'

'Yeah a little, I felt bad about what I keep doing to you.' He muttered and I watched him as he looked out onto the field.

'I like this one, I didn't know you could make these.'

'I can make all kinds of animals but you're pretty like a bird so I made birds today.' I smiled and tucked my head into his hood so he couldn't see. 'Any way, I have to get back, shouldn't be too much longer.' I nodded and he jogged back over to where everyone had started to congregate. I continued to watch, not wanting to think about the fact he dealt with his anger by sexually I don't want to say abusing or harassing but stimulating sounds weird too, what ever. The coach blew his final whistle and everyone seemed to slump and calm down as they headed towards the locker rooms. Lincoln running over before heading in.

'Meet me at my truck okay? I won't be long. You going to be alright on your own?' I nodded and he squeezed my knee before running off and I got ready to head to his truck, I waited and waved at the guys who were leaving until he came out.

We got in the truck, talking about the practice until he pulled into a parking spot and we got out, he lead me into the general store and I we headed down to the pudding and custard isle.

'Pick what ever you want babe.' He muttered into my ear and I looked over my shoulder as he started putting chips and chocolate in the basket I hadn't noticed him pick up.

'Is your dad working night shift tonight?'

'Yeah, until Sunday, then he's on day shift for two weeks before back on nights.'

'My dad's roster is similar, he said he's doing a double tonight, did you want to stay over?' I felt so embarrassed asking him this, it didn't use to mean anything when we were five and begging our parents to have a sleep over.

'Sure, course I'll stay with you babe.' He said nonchalant as he continued to put things in the basket. I put pudding and custard cups into the basket before we moved to the drinks isle and he grabbed soft drink while I grabbed flavoured milk.

'Babe, you've got a serious addiction to dairy products.' He said as he looked in the basket. I smiled and ran my hand up the back of his shirt running my fingers down as I pressed my face into his arm.

'I know.' I said as he looked through to make sure he had everything he wanted. I already knew I did. We headed to the check out and he paid before we went to the truck.
