The queen had just given birth to the first prince. The first of a new generation of the royal family, really. She was tired, in pain, but most of all happy as she held her little bundle of joy. They had named him Galaxy and he was fixated on his mother's bright fiery hair. Starting at red, then fading into an orange, and yellow at the tips. She watched him, his little blue eyes showing subtle hints of purple. Her own eyes were copper, which was beautiful against her tan skin.
"He's so young, he mostly looks like a potato with eyes," Aldrin, her husband and the king, said.
She tried to stifle a laugh. "That's your newborn you're talking about."
He laughed. "I'm aware, Enya" He smiled at her, his rainbow eyes filled with love.
The pair watched their tiny baby boy's eye drift closed, his right hand open enough to show the small cut. It was something done to every member of their race at birth to find out blood color, keeping parents from being caught off guard by the abilities of their children. If it had been a normal purple they wouldn't have been so surprised, but it was jasmine purple, one of the rarest blood colors. His blood plus the fluffy fox ears and tail that almost looked like they were made of space, but dark purple.
It had been quite long enough that Aldrin had begun to think Enya had fallen asleep as well. "What kind of person do you think he'll be," she whispered.
"With you as his mother? Someone sweet and compassionate, with an unbendable will of his own," he said while giving her a peck on the cheek. He took Galaxy, placing him in his bassinet. "Now you should rest, my love."
She nodded with a small smile. "I love you my lovely dragon," she said, her eyes already drifting shut.
"I love you too, my dear phoenix."
