The pair were beginning to think this trip would prove fruitless. If the green haired kitsune hadn't been an old friend, they'd likely have given up by now. It was difficult enough to find the man, but now they were fighting the most terrifying being on Vipereon, or the wasteland as it was more commonly known nowadays, Autumn Nox.
When they'd found him, Rena and Elsword wouldn't have though he'd be able to put up this much of a fight. He practically looked like a corpse. His skin was far paler than normal, nearly looking white. Long green strands of hair were tangled, dingy, and mostly under the wolf head he wore. His once white tunic had turned brownish and his pants were torn in plenty of places.
Despite hearing that he'd lost his mind, Aisha had been convinced they could just talk to him. He'd got back and forth from being a savior and a menace. But they believed him to be the closeted thing they'd get to a hero.
Elsword grunted as he blocked the knife Autumn wielded. Honestly he was glad the other didn't use his gun. He side-stepped, swung, but was surprised to only hit air. Rena fired her bow, only grazing Autumn with the arrow.
Autumn stepped back and growled. His painfully bright red eye glanced to the elven woman before returning to the other male. He suddenly dashed forward, slicing the other's left arm with his blade. Elsword cried out in pain. Clang, his sword fell to the floor. He gripped his wound, glaring at the other. He was searching the other's face for SOMETHING, ANYTHING to lead his to believe his friend was still there somewhere.
Under the three's gaze, Autumn seemed to falter slightly. His grasp on this weapon loosed as he looked between the wound he'd caused and the other male's eyes.
"You know," Elsword gritted his teeth. "For a hero you're verging dangerously off into villain territory."
"....So?"
"Our world has more than enough of those, Autumn. I know you've done good since the world went to shit."
".....And?" Autumn furrowed his brows. "I've done plenty of bad as well."
Aisha stepped toward the pair, holding her long useless staff. "But you could make up for the bad by helping us. We came to talk."
He looked at her, his eyes fading to a more ruby color. "Talk about what? The people I've killed? The things I've done?" He huffed. "Or did you lot just wanna chat like old time?"
"About starting a guild," Rena chimed in.
Aisha nodded. "We want to protect people. If you'd just listen to what we have to say..."
Autumn lowered his weapon, "Fine. But don't expect anything."
And they didn't. The four spoke as Aisha cleaned and dressed the injuries from the fight. To everyone's surprise Autumn agreed in the end. He stayed with them to found and lead the guild known as the Shadow Hunters. Maybe it was because he was bored of his current activities. Maybe because of the friendship they'd held. Or maybe he truly wished to turn over a new leaf. Regardless, the guild was created.
Other the course of year, the guild grew. Eventually having everything from diplomats to doctors, scouts, and even teachers. They were the protectors of Vipereon. They allied themselves with a guild known as The Fifth Wolf, and built up a stronghold around the world tree. Autumn even ended up adopting a girl named Aira as his sister.
Even when playing hero, though, everyone was unsure if or when Autumn may go evil again. With such deep-seated hatred comes the capacity to do such horrible things.
