25th Chapter

I let out a shaky breath as I climbed up onto the broken hunk of metal and looked around. The Aurora trembled around us, causing both Hange and I to almost fall back into the water. Hange and Levi then walked up onto the platform before turning to look at me with questioning looks.

"Where exactly are we going?" Levi asked asked nonchalantly while holding his heated blade, ready for anything to attack,

"First, we find a way inside. And then we'll work our way from there. Since I don't know what is actually still intact, I can't be sure of the passageways that are still open for us to take." I said taking another step. I saw a couple cave crawlers crossing our path and groaned in annoyance. "Great, more of these things. Watch out for those. They will hold on if they get a bite of you."

Levi's brows furrowed in disgust looking at the one-eyed crawler and backed away from it. Hange however, was already halfway to touching the crab looking creature before the words had even left my mouth. She immediately pulled her hand back once the warning was given, not wanting to lose a finger.

I made my way forward and saw supply boxes littering the ship. I opened the one beside me and pulled out a battery. "Useful. There are supply boxes everywhere. Ooh! I wonder if the Supply room is still open. With any luck, We can grab water and nutrient blocks to feed everyone." I stated to myself with a small smile, storing the battery in my inventory and continuing on.

I furthered my trek up the broken metal platform I was walking on and saw two more supply boxes. I opened the first one and picked up a med-kit as Hange went for the second one. I placed the kit in my inventory and watched as Hange made her way to the other that was just a bit further ahead. She dodged a few of the cave crawlers effortlessly as they tried jumping at her and opened the next one, pulling out another med-kit. "Well, at least we know we have medical supplies if one of us gets hurt."

Levi and Hange followed me, dodging and slicing the crawlers alongside me. "What exactly is our mission here? You never really explained that." Hange asked, making a place on my right side as Levi went on my left.

I looked over at her, realizing I never stated exactly why we need to be here. "Oh-- Right, uh, one of our main missions here is to find a data package that was sent to the terminal in my former Captain's quarters. It's supposed to have blueprints to a rocket that can get us off this sodden rock. The other mission is to try to get rid of the radiation in this place."

'Caution: Scans show the digestive tracts of nearby lifeforms contain human tissues.'

All three of us looked over at a few of the Cave Crawlers nearby when we heard the warning, a shiver getting sent down my spine. "You've gotta be kidding me," I said disturbed by the knowledge. "Did they seriously eat every passenger and crew member that didn't make it off the ship?" I asked to no one in particular, a sad look in my eyes as my lips trembled.

"Let's just get this shit over with. I don't wanna be here anymore than you do. I can’t say the same about Four-eyes over here." He stated, motioning to Hange as she started examining a lot of the broken technology and dead cave crawlers that lay scattered around the ship. I sighed. 

"Let's keep moving. With any luck, we'll find a way inside somewhere around here. Hange, don’t touch that! Come on!" I called out to her, preventing her from touching a dead cave crawler. She looked back at us and quickly stood up. She walked towards us, a cave crawler lunging at her barely missing it’s target and smacking into a pillar.

"Coming!" She yelled. I walked further ahead and saw our only path was a thin metal beam with a few crawlers on it that looked ready to collapse at any second. "Oh boy...” I started, nervously. “Okay, I'll go first. It's not safe for us all to cross at once. I hardly think it'll support all the weight."
