With a tired sigh as I sit at my desk, I go over some plans for exploring the last few places still of interest in my head. ‘With Levi sick, who would take his place? Who is responsible enough to stay behind and take care of him? I know I can’t just send a team out on their own into an unknown biome.’ I thought, scratching the spot right above my ear.

I noticed a shadow looming over me and let out another sigh, not even bothering to look behind me. “You’re supposed to be resting, Levi. Get back to bed.” I said with annoyance in my tone from the short man's stubbornness.

He scoffed. “And what if I don’t want to? I may be sick, but I can still kick your ass.”

I rolled my eyes with a scoff. “Really? Then why weren’t you able to get away from me, or get me off of you when I took your temperature for that matter?” I asked, sounding a bit irritated while barely looking at him over my shoulder.

Levi said nothing, and I turned back to my PDA as I tried to formulate a good plan with a decent group of cadets.

“What are you doing?” His voice sounded strained and raspy as he spoke.

My eye twitched and I took a deep breath. “I’m trying to make a plan on the exploration of the other areas and find out who is going with me, but someone won’t do as he’s told…” I grabbed his cheeks and pulled his head down so he was eye level with me. “Now, if you have nothing to add, Levi… Go. To. Bed.” I stated with an orderly tone in my voice, staring the man dead in the eyes.

I stood up and grabbed him by his shoulders and directed him back to the bed. I gently pushed him onto it and made sure he laid comfortably back into place before I pulled the cover over him and tucked him in.

“Now, get some rest, please? I will be right over there at my desk. And I don’t want to hear another word out of you unless you feel like you’re dying, or if you need food or water, got it?” I said, eyeing his annoyed face for any complaints that he probably has a bucket of.

His signature ‘tch’ left his lips, causing me to lightly chuckle. I turned and walked back over to my desk and sat down once more, returning back to my PDA notes. As I sat there in silence, my brain began to wander into its own world and all I could think about was everything that had happened earlier.

I still couldn’t believe that he hid being sick from us. If we had caught it when he first felt unwell, he would’ve been better by now. At least better enough so he could still work unhindered. Not to mention that since he rarely sleeps, it doesn’t make things any better for his condition. With a light sigh, I place my chin into the palm of my hand and look out towards the bioluminescent flora outside.

A few hours earlier…

I was completely baffled. ‘Sick… He’s fucking sick!’ I quickly got off of him and helped him to his feet. “Seriously, Levi, why didn’t you say anything?”

“Obviously because it’s not that big of a fucking deal. We have more important things to worry about than a tiny cold--” He suddenly broke out into another coughing fit as he leaned against the wall for support.

Everyone backed up to give him some space and to also not accidentally catch his sickness. Once his fit had stopped, I gently grabbed his hand. “Come on…” I said with a sigh as I walked him to his room.

“I want you to change out of your dive suit and into something more comfortable. Luckily for you, I found some decent clothes in the duffle bags we found on our hunt for supplies. So, until you get better, you’re not leaving this base.” I ordered before turning and leaving the room so he could change.
