Even Now Bad Things Can Happen...

The next day they picked up right where they left off, everyone mounted up their horses in silence to tired to even talk. As they continued every once in a while Clarke would look back making sure Lexa was behind her.

As they neared the last hour everyone began to complain, Lexa just rolled her eyes and laughed a little, " Alright everyone lets take a 20 minute break." Lexa slowed their horse to a stop hopping off first offering a hand to Clarke. Once the blonde was down she pecked Lexa's cheek making the girl blush a little.

Everyone relaxed for the time being, Octavia helped Niylah make a fire while Indra went to see if she could catch any food. Lexa was still wary of Niylah, after last night she just had a bad feeling about the blonde.

" What's goin on in that beautiful brain of yours?" Clarke snapped Lexa out of her thoughts making her jump a little, not realizing she was so close.

" Oh..nothing" Lexa looked down to her hands lightly picking her nails, that was her tell or that's what Clarke called it, when Lexa was hiding something she would pick at her nails and Clarke could also just see it in her eyes.

" Your lying.." Clarke spoke in a firm tone

" It's nothing alright, Niylah and I just got into it a little while you were asleep, It's really not a big deal." Lexa tried to persuade Clarke that it was nothing, wrapping her arms around her waist holding her chest to chest barring her face in the crook of her girlfriends neck. Lexa was never the type to really show affection in public, but hell Clarke wasn't complaining.

" Well it has to be something if it's bothering you this much my love...just tell me." Clarke backed up crossing her arms over her chest giving Lexa 'The scary look' but Lexa had to admit Clarke just looked like a mad toddler who's toy got taken.

"Lex will you please just tell m-"

" She basically said that, I don't deserve you and that I'm just gonna die and leave you alone again like I did before. She told me you would be better off without me....part of me is thinking she's right." Lexa looked down at the ground not able to look into Clarke's eyes.

" She what! wait,wait why do you think she's right. Love I'm lucky to have you." Clarke furrowed her eyebrows turning a little red because of how mad she was.

" Think about it Clarke, If I never would have met you, I wouldn't have caused you so much pain at Mount Weather, I wouldn't have separated you from your mother and friends. Hell! I wouldn't have died and left you alone....I just..I feel like I just keep breaking you every time I come back to you. And I don't to I just want you to be happy I-"

" Lex you make me happy! Don't you see that I love you, I've never stopped loving you. Yeah it killed me when you died and I was alone, but your here now. Just don't leave me again, Okay?" Lexa looked up into Clarke's blue eyes nodding her head slowly before Clarke pulled her in for a bone crushing hug, god did she need that, to be told that she was wanted after so many years apart from the one person she wanted most.

" But right now I have to go beat the shit out of Niylah.." Clarke went to pull out of the hug but before she could leave Lexa brought her right back into her arms silently pleading for her not to leave...not just yet.

" Don't leave...please." Lexa was never one to say please or beg but Clarke could understand were she was coming from, so she sighed and pulled Lexa impossibly closer.

Over the next 15 minutes they cuddled up next to the fire Clarke laying in between Lexa's legs her back to Lexa's chest resting her head on Lexa's left shoulder, this had become their signature position for cuddling in front of people. While they were off in their own little world, Lexa occasionally pressing soft kisses to Clarke's temple, cheek, or neck, they were both aware of Niylah glaring at Lexa.
