Sophie felt his fist hit her cheek, the blow barely missing her jaw.
Stumbling backwards, Sophie struggled to keep her balance. Once she had gotten her bearings, she straightened and glared at Fitz. "Don't ever try and hit him again, or next time I will fight back."
Fitz just laughed. "I doubt that, you couldn't even confront Stina, how would you confront me?"
Sophie was done with his attitude. She clenched her fist, stepped forward, and punched him. Throwing all her weight into it, she heard a loud slap, and what might have been a cracking sound.
Fitz stumbled to the ground, and spat something out of his mouth. "A tooth." Sophie thought. She had hit him hard enough to break a tooth.
"I warned you." She turned to leave, just as Principal Alina walked into the room with one of the popular kids, Maruca.
"Not just yet Miss Foster. You, Mr. Vacker, and Mr. Sencen are to go to my office, now." She inspected the situation first. "Actually, Mr. Vacker, go to the nurse, then come to my office.
She shot Sophie and Keefe a glare, before walking out of the cafeteria, her heels clicking loudly through the halls into the now silent room.
Sophie soared one last glance at the others before walking out towards Principal Alina's office, Keefe following behind her

"What we're you thinking Miss Foster?" Alina snapped.
"I was thinking he was going to punch Keefe without any real reason too, so I defended him. He didn't believe me when I said the next time he assaulted Keefe, or any of my friends, that I would hit him. So I did." They glared at each other, not breaking eye contact for even a second.
Finally, Principal Alina sighed, and leaned back in her chair with a loud creaking noise. "You two will be suspended for a week."
"What?!" They both said at once.
Sophie shot to her feet. "That isn't fair. Suspend me, Keefe didn't do anything!"
"He didn't do anything to stop you either."
Sophie huffed in annoyance, about to say something else, but a firm shake of Keefe's head told her she sh would stop.
Sophie scowled and sat down. "Fine."
Alina smiled. "Good, I will see you in a week. Once more thing Sophie. If you miss one more day after your suspension, you will have to do summer school, unless you manage to pass all of your classes. Is this understood?"
Sophie grit her teeth but nodded.
"Then you are both dismissed."
They walked down the halls, silent as the squeaking of their shoes filled the silence of the empty halls.
"I shouldn't have punched him." Sophie said as they reached the front office.
"Nah, he kinda deserved it. I should have dodged instead of let you take the hit. Are you alright by the way?" Sophie hadn't really thought about the hit until now, and all of a sudden her cheek started to ache.
"I'll be fine. Nothing a little ice can't fix." He narrowed his eyes at her suspiciously, but said nothing else.
They made their way outside and down the sidewalk to the cross walk.
"How is Elwin gonna handle you getting suspended?" She asked.
Keefe just shrugged. "It's happened a few times. He won't be surprised. What about Grady and Edaline?"
