"Miss Foster! Are you paying attention?" Snapped Mr Bradley. Sophie blinked and sat up straight.

"Sorry, Sir. I didn't get much sleep last night." He narrowed his eyes at her.

"Fine then, you'll receive a detention slip AND a referral to the therapist. I can't have you falling asleep in my class." He slammed the papers on her desk, and Sophie groaned, ignoring the snickering coming from the other students.

After Mr Bradley's Class was over, Sophie headed to lunch, deciding to go to the therapist after school and detention.

As she walked in and got her food, by instinct she headed for the usual table. Fitz, Keefe, Linh, and Biana were already there, and Sophie froze.

Turning quickly she went to the only other empty table she could find in the room, all the way across the room from the usual table, and sat down.

As she ate, she heard footsteps as someone approached her table, and sat down. She glanced up to see Keefe, who shot her a grin, but said nothing as he continued eating.

Sophie was about to smile back, but then a tall lanky girl in jeans and a ripped tee shirt walked over. "Well, look who finally came back to school today." Sophie looked up at Stina, and glared at her, straight in the eyes. "I heard what happened to your parents, pity that they wouldn't get to see you get into detention with Mr Bradley today."

"Shut up Stina, no one cares about what you have to say!" Keefe snapped, and some of the tables nearby them grew silent.

She only grinned more, as Sophie slung down in her chair, avoiding everyone's eyes. "Oh, I think someone does." She laughed and walked off.

A few minutes later, when she had the courage to sit up again, Sophie stood and started to head out of the cafeteria. She was done, if anyone else said anything to her she was going to-
Zz am shoulder, and she assumed it was Keefe, so she stopped and turned around, about to tell him she was fine. But it wasn't Keefe. It was Fitz.

"Hey, don't let what she says bother you. You need time to get over it, she's just looking for a fight" Sophie clenched her fists, unable to keep her rage in any longer.
Uh
"Why, would I care, what you have to say to me, Fitz?" She whispered.

He frowned and reached for her hand, only for Sophie to pull out of his reach. "What do you mean Sophie? Why would you care? I don't understand."

Sophie glanced back to the table where Keefe sat. He shook his head, as if to warn her not to do it. It was too late for that now. "I'm not an idiot. I saw you last week, with Linh." She could feel her shoulder trembling, but she made herself look him in the eyes. "I don't want to talk to you again. You or Linh, or anyone else who takes your side."

For a moment, Sophie could have sworn she regret in his face, but then it shifted to anger. "I don't have any idea what you're talking about."

Some of the others, except Linh and Tam, walked over to see what was going on.

"Uh, Bro, what is she talking about?" Biana asked warily.

"Nothing! Like I said, I have no idea!"

Dex stepped in front of Sophie defensively "Okay, calm down Wonder boy. Maybe you just aren't remembering right."

"You're defending her, Dex?!" Biana shouted.

"Yeah, I am, because it's a little easier to side with someone you actually trust more." They started arguing and Sophie felt Marella put a hand in her shoulder.

"Come on, let's get you home, maybe to go see Amy for a little bit." Sophie nodded, then Marella motioned for Keefe to come with them.

Before he could reach the doors though, Fitz reached out and grabbed his arm. "Ro's is all your fault. She wouldn't be like this if you hadn't come here. Whatever you two are hiding just screwed everything up!"

"Hey, leave me out of this! I didn't do anything here. You did. You made the mistake, and if you want to deny it, I saw it too, so don't even try." Fitz froze for a moment, glaring at Keefe.

Then, faster than should have been possible, Fitz raised his hand and curled it into a fist, and set his arm flying towards Keefe's head.

Sophie's eyes widened, and without thinking she bolted forward; stepping in front of Keefe.
