Sophie didn't even bother to say goodbye to anyone as her and Amy grabbed all the things they had taken with them to the new house, and got into Oralie's car.

They drove down past her mom's cafe-

Oh gods. The Cafe. What would happen to it now?

Apparently, the new neighborhood wasn't as far as Sophie thought, because Oralie turned into a new section of houses that only a few streets away from the cafe.

They stopped in front of  a two story house, with more windows than Sophie had ever seen on a house. It seemed a little more refined to her, with the white walls and lanterns on the sidewalk that lead up to the front door.

They had a tall tree in the front yard, with oddly bright red leaves and almost white seed pods. Sophie had a slight flashback to the dream from before the concussion, the one of a tree resting on a cliff face. Weird...

"Alright girls, we're here. Before we go, there are some things I should tell you." Sophie and Amy exchanged a nervous look, but nodded. "First of all, only one of you will be living here with the Ruewens."

Amy grabbed Sophie's hand, and began to cry again. "No, please! I can't loose my sister too."

Oralie looked down, as if saddened by the situation. "I know, Amy. I tried to find some place you could both go together, but the only family that would take you, only wanted Amy. The Ruewens offered last second to take you Sophie, as payment for a favor I did for them."

The car got silent, and Sophie just sat there as her sister cried, trying to think of what to do. "Do you promise you can schedule times to hang out?"

Oralie looked up, smiling in the mirror. "Of course."

"Then we can do it." Sophie turned to her sister and gave her a hug. "It's going to be okay, I promise."

"No.. no... no, please" Amy said through sobs, her tears seeping through Sophie's shirt.

"I wouldn't if I didn't have to, but we'll still see eachother. I'll call you every day before you go to sleep. Just know that I'm not gone, okay?" She grunted, and Sophie pulled away, reaching for the car door. Oralie was already standing outside, waiting for her.

The moment she closed the car door, she heard Amy start crying again, and as she got closer to the door, staring at the lanterns as she went, she could hear her crying out her name, calling for her to come back.

But Sophie didn't. She just kept walking, wiping away any signs of tears that she might have and replacing it with a blank expression. Don't let anything get to you, she kept telling herself.

The next time she looked up, she was standing at the pastel blue door, Oralie standing beside her.

"Do you want to knock, or should I?" Oralie asked.

"You knock." Sophie muttered, realizing she didn't have the heart left in her to do anything but stare or maybe even cry.

Oralie reached up and knocked three times in the door. For a moment there was absolute silence.

Then, the feint sound of feet against wood became clear, and the door swung open. There stood two people. One was a woman with long amber hair and turquoise blue eyes.  The other was a man with short swept blonde hair and bright blue eyes. The woman smiled at Oralie, then at Sophie.

"Hello Edaline, Grady." Oralie sai, dipping her head as if they were royalty of some type, which made Sophie want to tug out a few more eyelashes to keep from fidgeting. "I would like you to meet Sophie Foster. Sophie, this is Edaline and Grady. They're going to be your new family."
