February 14, 1990

Stevie had fallen madly, and deeply in love with her little girls and she had only had them for about eleven days. Cordelia was a talkative little bug who loved the water. Bathtime was a trip every single night and every time Lindsey would take her and play outside with her, she'd stare longingly at the pool gate. Prompting Stevie to ask her if she knew how to swim. Cordelia shook her head and then Lindsey took it upon himself to teach her when it warmed up.

Currently, it was pissing down rain, so Stevie stuck her and Lindsey in front of the TV to watch cartoons while she got herself and Misty ready for the day. She had put her in a little pair of white tights and dressed her in a mauberry colored dress with white hearts on it. Stevie had chosen to wear a red jacket like top and a pair of jeans.  She and Lindsey had gotten the girls' little Valentine's day gifts. Misty's was a bottle with hearts on it and a red plush blanket with white hearts on it. Cordelia would get to open hers when Stevie got downstairs. She topped Misty's outfit off with a little white bow and with the happy wide-awake baby in tow she made her way downstairs.

"Daddy, kid switch?" Stevie announces when she walks into the living room. Stevie had been referring to herself as Mom and Lindsey as Dad but Cordelia still called them by their first names and it made sense, but it still hurt Stevie a little bit because it was an eternal reminder that they might not get to keep them. Their first home visit was that afternoon and Stevie was scared to death.

"Huh, go get dressed bug." Lindsey kisses Cordelia's head picking her up off of his lap and setting her on the floor taking Misty from Stevie.

When Stevie got Cordelia upstairs they do what they do every morning. Cordelia plops on the rug, with her blankie and owl in her lap. The pink owl and the white blanket with pinks hearts became her little lovies and she was always toting them around the house. They hadn't gone out in public with the girls yet save for McDonalds but they knew they would soon because groceries were needed. Then Stevie lays out three outfits in front of her. Today she laid out a white shirt with a rainbow heart on it and a pair of pink leggings that would match a color of the heart. The second outfit was a red long sleeve teeshirt and a black ruffle skirt and the third was a red dress with white hearts on it. She was trying to dress her girls in a Valentine's day theme. But doing that gave Cordelia the option to choose what she wore because she was two and she was independent to a point.

Cordelia chose the red dress and Stevie smiled before standing up and putting the other outfits away. She grabs one of the undershirts from the dresser and a pair of white tights and she lets Cordelia pull her pajamas off. Stevie folds them and places them in the crib because she wears them again that night as Cordelia toddles off to go potty. When she comes back, Stevie goes and cleans the potty chair, and then she works on getting Cordelia dressed. It's a tedious process in the morning but she cherishes these bonding moments with Cordelia.

"Alright, sunflower...what should we do with your hair?" Stevie asks plopping down on the chair and making her stand in front of her...

"I no know."

"Well do you want pebbles?" Stevie asks pulling pieces of hair up for the pebbles do.

"No." She shakes her head.

"Do you want...to leave it long and curly?" Stevie asks. Her hair was about chin length and Stevie absolutely loved the way it fell.

"No." She shakes her head again,

"Well, then that leaves Piggys. Do you want piggy's?" Stevie asks.

Cordelia just turns around and gives a giant beaming grin and Stevie laughs kissing her temple again going to brush her hair into the pigtails which she secures with two white bow ponytails.
