Dr. McGregor has 1845 described the conditions of the war between the British and the Sikhs. At one point in the book it is written that Mountain had prepared for the Khalsa army such battles in the field of Subrau which were very difficult to break.
Mountain was captured by the British:
and when the British entered Lahore, they arrested Mountain and deported him from the Punjab. Throughout his tenure, his job was to prepare for the Khalsa army in the field of Subrau. Before that there was no military service. Major Smaib writes that Mountain had told me many important secrets of the Khalsa Army.
