Chapter twenty-six

"Dad!" Biana yelled and started towards him.

"Biana no!" Sophie whisper-screamed and grabbed her arm. "It's probably a trap."

"But-" Sophie cut her off.

"We'll figure it out."

Sophie turned to look at Fitz. She was about to say something when she noticed how red his face was. How his jaw was clenched and his eyebrows were scrunched up. He's furious.

"What do we do?" Marella asked.

"Well you could start off by telling us why the Black Swan would send eight children to do their bidding," a familiar voice said.

Keefe's hands clenched.

"Come out Gisela!" Sophie told her.

A second later Gisela Sencen came out of a nearly invisible door behind Aldens broken body.

"Welcome Moonlark," she said. "Come here, let me take a good look at you."

Sophie didn't move.

"Alright then," Gisela snapped her fingers and a wall dropped down a couple meters behind Sophie and her friends.

The wall started to move towards them and ended up pushing them into the bright room Alden was in.

"Well, let's begin, shall we?"

Twenty Neverseen members in their black cloaks entered from the door behind Alden.

"The deals simple," Gisela started. "Moonlark for the Vacker dad."

"No," Keefe said. "We are not doing that."

"Well. Than watch him die," she took a knife from her cloak and held it to Aldens neck.

Sophie exhaled. "No! Take me, don't kill him."

"Oh good, cooperation from the stubborn teens."

"No!" Biana protested. "Please Sophie, you're too important."

"I know what it's like to lose a parent, I can't let you go through that too," Sophie stepped forward. "Take me."

Linh stepped up and hugged her. In her ear, she whispered, "We'll find you, I promise."

Sophie smiled at her friend.

She hugged each of her friends and when she hugged Tam, he whispered to her. "When they give him to us, I want you to run back as fast as you can, I'll stay here and hold them off."

He let go and Sophie tried to tell him 'no' without any one seeing, but he didn't get the message.

Two Neverseen members came up to Sophie and grabbed her arms. "Bye guys," she told her friends.

"Good," Gisela grabbed a key from her cloak and put it in the lock. The chains dropped from Aldens body and Fitz ran up to him and picked him up in his arms. She snapped her fingers and the wall disappeared. Creepy.

When he stood by Keefe, Fitz handed Keefe his fathers legs and kept hold of his top half.

"Now, Sophie," Tam mouthed.

Sophie shook her head.

"Now," he mouthed again.

She shook her head again.

"Da*mit Sophie!" he yelled and ran up to her punched the two guards out and pushed her towards the rest of their friends.

"Run!" He screamed at them before the Neverseen members started to charge towards them.
