Chapter 14 - Nekoma

A few days passed and everything was going great. You and your team were also told that you were going to have a practice match with Nekoma again, except it will be at their school this time. At least now you will actually be able to see Tsukishima play against them, hopefully.

On the bus, you sat next to Kiyoko, which Tanaka and Nishinoya didn't like but just dealt with it since they love you. You could tell Tsukishima wanted you to ask him since when you were all picking seats he kept standing near you and glaring at you, but Yachi couldn't come today and Yamaguchi would have no one to sit with.

When you arrived, Kuroo was waiting outside, probably to guide us to the sports hall.

"Hey guys! Everyone just follow me." he shouts to get everyone's attention.

"Y/N! How are you?" Kuroo slows down a little bit to walk beside you.

"I'm good thank you, what about you?" you smile and look up at him.

"Good now that you're here!"

You giggle as you enter the sports hall.

"KENMA!" you hear a voice shout from behind.  A force budged its way to the front and you see Hinata run at the speed of light to Kenma.

"Poor Kenma..." you laugh along with Kuroo. You look behind you to find Kageyama but instead, you see a pair of eyes staring at you. Tsukishima was basically burning a hole through your head as he was watching you so intensely. You could see it from the corner of your eye but you pretended not to notice to see how long he could keep this up for.

"Kageyama can you see what I see." you say quietly so no one but Kags could hear.

"Tsukishima staring at you while you and Kuroo were talking? Yes."

"Should I talk to him?" you ask.

"Go ahead."

You nod and walk towards Tsukishima. You elbow him.

"Whatcha staring at?" you cutely sing.

"Nothing." he blurts out, not reciprocating your energy.

"Oh, so I'm nothing now?"

"I didn't say that."

"Well, I was only talking to Kuroo. Before you get any ideas." you assure him.

"Do whatever you want."

"Seriously? I'll just talk to you later." you sigh in frustration and walk off back to Kageyama.

"That didn't go well." you rejoin. "I don't get why he's mad? Can I not talk to boys now?"

"He's never mad when you talk to any other boy. Must be a problem with Kuroo." Kags suggested.

"You've got a point actually." you were surprised how he come up with that considering he's not the smartest of the bunch. "I guess I'll go ask Kuroo later."

"It's probably best if you ask Tsukishima first. But after he stops being a douche."

"Guess you're right. Thanks Kags!" you flash him a grateful smile.

During the game, you watched Tsukishima intensely but he never looked back at you. This brings back memories of the first time you watched Karasuno play. Except for this time, he's the one avoiding looking at you while you're focusing on him. You were getting restless and jittery, you just wanted to talk it out with Tsukishima. Even though you did nothing wrong.

Nekoma won again, however, Karasuno got more points than last time. So you praised all the team members for their hard work. You got to Tsukishima.

"Well done... you did great for your first game with them." you tell him.

"Thanks." he then just walks away from you. It kinda stung. Actually, it really stung. Well, screw him then. If he's so mad about me talking to Kuroo then I'll show him what real flirting is. You skip slightly to Kuroo who was talking to Tanaka's lookalike.

"Hey Kuroo! And....." Shit. What was his name?

"Ouch... It's Yamamoto." he sulks.

"I'm so sorry Yamamoto! I'm really bad with names. Forgive me!" You show your puppy dog eyes.

"FORGIVEN!!!" he woos over you.

"So what's going on with you and that salty guy?" Kuroo asks. "You didn't text me so I'm guessing you're together or something."

"We aren't. And dunno if we ever will be since he's mad at me right now."

"What for?"

"Because I was speaking to you." you poke Kuroo's chest.

"Oya?" he smirks. "Is he threatened by me?"

"I guess so, I don't blame him." Kuroo blushes at your remark.

"What about me? Do I threaten him?" Yamamoto interrupts and flexes his muscles.

You giggle at him, "I'm sure you do." As you laugh along with the two of them, Kenma approached you.

"Your teammates are about to leave by the way." he spoke in a quiet, soft voice.

"Oh! Thanks for letting me know Kenma! See ya guys!" you wave at the while pacing to the exit.

"HEY! You remembered Kenma's name!" Yamamoto cried out. Your pace turns into a run to escape Yamamoto's complaints about you forgetting his name but remembering everyone else's.

"What was that about?" Kageyama says as he stood at the exit.

"Just giving Tsukishima a real reason to be mad at me for."

"You don't help yourself, do you?" he sighs.

"Oops." you shrug your shoulders. At this point, you didn't really care. If Tsukishima gets mad at you for just talking to an attractive boy, then maybe he shouldn't be in a relationship. It kind of hurt you that he didn't trust you. It's like the Yudai situation again.

On the bus, you drifted off into a little nap on Kiyoko's shoulder, which she didn't mind. At the end of the journey, she gently pats your warm cheeks to wake you up. You were quite embarrassed that you even fell asleep but you just shook it off and left the bus as everyone else did. After the boys got dressed in the clubroom, you went in to also change from your Karasuno Volleyball team tracksuit. When you left you were expecting at least both Yamaguchi and Tsukishima waiting for you to walk home together. However, they had already left. You were expecting it from Tsukishima but not from Yams. Maybe Tsukishima just convinced him to not wait for you, you tried not to overthink it. You said goodbye to everyone who were still there and started your walk home on your own.

It's strange. As soon as you entered an empty street, away from all the others, you started crying. At first, it was just tears falling down from an emotionless expression. As if your eyes were feeling for you. But then it turned into sobbing. You let out little whimpers as you wiped your teary eyes. You tried not to get bothered by just simply walking home by yourself but when you're alone you can't help but convince that everyone hates you. Even Kageyama sounded disappointed in you when you told him what you were doing. You know Yamaguchi loves you like a best friend but he's known Tsukishima for longer, he would obviously choose him over you. You take out your phone and go on your call list.

There is only one person you know that will always be there for you.
