Chapter 5 - Weekend

Some days go by and you and the team have become really close. Your mum has met everyone in the club now and even your dad was introduced to a couple of them, despite the fact he's extremely protective of you when it comes to boys. You considered Kageyama and Yamaguchi to be your best friends and Hinata is basically your annoyance of a little brother now, but you still have a lot of love for him. He makes your days much brighter; especially when he sees you and gives you a big hug. Well... not so big since he's smaller than you.

It was the weekend and you did not want to stay at home every weekend like you have been for the past year. Picking up the phone, you call Kageyama and see what he's up to.

Luckily, he wasn't busy today so you made plans to go to a local cafe and then meet up with Hinata to practice some volleyball at a nearby park.

You still had an hour to get ready but you already showered so you decided to actually do your makeup for once. Every so often, you and your parents go out for meals and day outs but doing your makeup and putting something on other than uniform or pajamas was never exciting. Today was different though; you were eager to look your best.

You put on some concealer, winged eyeliner, blush and you do your eyebrows. You spend some time debating if you should put fake lashes on but in the end you realise it's only a cafe and a park and you're not that extra. Instead, you apply some mascara and finalise your look with some lip gloss.

You put your favourite outfit on that you've been waiting to wear out since your birthday. Looking in the mirror, you barely recognise yourself; you look AMAZING.

Running to your mum, you give her a cute, little twirl and she gasps.

"Y/N!! You definitely take from your mother..." your mom compliments... you? herself?

"Thanks? Anyways, I'm off now! I'll be back at around 6pm." you shout while closing the front door.

When you walk into the cafe you see Kageyama, already seated, on his phone.

"Hey Kageyama!"

He sharply turns to look your direction and his eyes widen. A couple of strangers do the same since you were a bit too loud.

"H-hi Y/N." he stutters with a pink tint to his cheeks.

"What do you think?" you ask him.

"Erm... of what?" he asks back.

This idiot. "Of how I look silly." you giggle.

"Oh... you look g-good." he mutters while scratching his head. This made you blush since a boy hasn't complimented you in a while.

"Heh, thanks." you smile. "Do you want me to go get your order?"

He shakes his head, "I'll do it, what would you like?"

"Can I get a latte and a piece of strawberry shortcake." you rummage through your purse to find change. "Here, this should be enough." you pass him the coins but he refuses to take them.

"I'll pay." he bluntly says then walks off to order.

Not on my watch. You open his coat pocket and slip the change in there. You hated people paying for you because that meant you owed them; your anxiety doesn't let it go until you pay them back.

He comes back and you both eat your treats. You sip your coffee and realise Kageyama got milk. From a cafe.

"Do you get milk as your drink?" you ask, genuinely curious.

"Mhm." he answers. You mouth an "oh" and get back to drinking your coffee. This guy worries you sometimes.

"Tsukishima is here." he quietly points out.

"What? I never knew he was invited."

"No he came here by himself. Look behind you." Which you do and realise Kags was right. What Kageyama didn't mention though was the fact Tsukishima was staring directly at you. Not creepy at all. You wave to him which he completely dismisses by looking away. You thought about asking him to join us but Kageyama probably didn't want him to.

"Jeez... what's his deal? He saw that I waved at him right?" you complain.

"It's Tsukishima, what do you expect."

"True." you sneer.

After you and Kageyama finish eating and drinking, you leave the place and head to the local park where Hinata will be waiting for us.

"Y/N!!!!!" you hear a loud screech. You then find yourself tackled to the floor by Hinata. You both burst into laughter while lying on the floor. Kageyama panics and tries to help you back up.

"Thank you Kags." you say while smiling. As Kageyama was holding your hand while pulling you up, you hear your name being called again.

"Y/N! What a coinc-" the shouting stops and you look to your left and see Tsukishima was holding Yamaguchi's mouth closed, like he was trying to stop him talking. Then Tsukishima looked like he was telling him skmething but you couldn't make out what it was.

"Hey guys! Come here!" you shout back. The pair do what you say. Yamaguchi nervously giggles and scratches his head while Tsukishima walks behind visibly unhappy to be here.

"These two were going to practice volleyball so you can join us if you want." you offer.

"Oh, erm... I'd love to! But me and Tsukishima already have plans to go to a cafe."

You raise an eyebrow, "What? But me and Kags already saw Tsukishima-kun at the cafe?"

"OH- d-did I say cafe? I meant museum." Yamaguchi nervously laughs again.

"Okayyyy... well, we'll see you later!" you ruffle Yamaguchi's head and then wave Tsukishima goodbye.

After they leave you, Hinata and Kageyama look at eachother.

"That was weird." you break the silence. You all start laughing, even Kageyama. After that... moment, the pair start playing while you watch. You've been watching videos of professional volleyball players so you try to give them tips.

*Skip to 5:30pm*

"It's getting dark now, I should get going." you state.

"We'll walk you home Y/N!" Hinata says.

Once you reach your house, you hug Hinata goodbye and wave goodbye to Kageyama. You pull out your phone and notice you have an unopened dm on Instagram.

Why did Tsukishima complimenting you excite you more than when Kags complimented you? You were closer to Kags so you just couldn't understand.

Author's note: okay next chapter is where it will get more ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ lmao. anyways i got covid so i'll be posting more updates since i won't be in school.
