Chapter: Seven

Lydia was walking into the icecream shop on Friday as 5:46pm and she sighed in relief when she saw that Stiles was there behind the counter. He looked up at the door and fumbled when he saw Lydia was there. She cringed as he struggled to not drop the icecream scooper.

She figured she just scared him or something.

She sat at one of the tables and watched and he helped customers and gave them their icecream before another employee took over at the register. He walked around the counter and sat down at the table Lydia was at.

"Hi." He says with a gentle smile.

"Hey, um.. sorry it took me 3 days to come."

"No it's fine don't worry, um can see the application?" He asked

Lydia nodded before reaching into her hoodie pocket and pulled out a folded paper, she watched Stiles unfolded it and scanned everything that she wrote. He nodded slowly once he finished and looked at her.

"Everything seems okay, um whenever I'm allowed to hire people I just asks them about their personality and the kind of person they are." He says

"Oh okay, sure."

"So um.. what are some of your best qualities?" He asked

"I'm really good with teamwork, I work better as a team actually. It's really hard for me to work alone."

"Understandable, I don't really like being alone either." He says

"And I'm really good at problem solving."

"My dad's the sheriff so it's almost in my blood to be really good at problem solving. I almost feel like a CSI sometimes, I have this crime board in my room that I just try and solve things with." He says before cringing "I'm totally geeking out right now, im so sorry."

"No! It's fine. I think it's cool."

"Oh, okay. Then, thank you." He replies with a sigh of relief.

"You're welcome, but is it actual crimes?"

"Yeah, I have a radio in my car that can overhear anything that happens that the cops call eachother for. I get alot of shit fron my dad about it though."

"So you're like, a teenage CSI?"

"I guess you could say that." He replies with a smile.

"That's really awesome Stiles."

"Thank you, um.. would you need alot of training for working here or would you catch on pretty fast?" He asked

"I think i'll be able to catch up, but a little help wouldn't be too bad."

"Okay so.. let's say 2 days of training?" He asked

"You're saying this as is I've got the job already." Lydia raises her eyebrows

"Well.. you seem like you would fit well here. It is just Icecream and Popcorn anyway." He says

"Plus the sweet deserts over there." Lydia says pointing to the display.

"I actually make all of that." Stiles says as he admires his works

"You make that?"

"Yes, I spend hours dipping shit in chocolate all day. I've seen so much chocolate here that I dont even like chocolate anymore." He shivers in disgust.

"Chocolate isn't even that good to dip all those things in."

"Agreed, okay so what would you be okay with in terms of schedule." He asked

"A couple days a week is fine, how many hours do you guys usually do?"

"It can range from 3 to 4 hours when you start and then as you continue it can go to 5 to 7 hours. But it really depends on what you can do." He says

"Yeah that's fine."

"Okay and you get paid $12 hours an hour." He adds

"That sounds reasonable."

"It's enough." He shrugs

"So... I got the job."

"Yeah, you got it." He smiles

"Okay, thanks so much Stiles."

"No problem, you want some icecream while you're here?" He asked as he stands up from the chair.

"Sure."

"Wild'n Reckless with a wafflw cone? He asked

"Yes please."

You can look around the shop if you want while you're here." He says as he grabs the cone.

Lydia helps herself and goes around the counter, she looks at the deserts that Stiles made and then she walks past the popcorn machine that smells amazing, she snorts when seeing the windows on the freezers have cheats for the drinks and how to make them with icecream.

"Yeah the workers here including me dont have good memories." Stiles said before handing Lydia her icecream.

"Clearly."

"You want some popcorn too?" He asked

"It smells really good so I might aswell."

"Got it, bag size?" He asked as he grabbed the scooper.

"Small is fine."

Lydia walks in the front where the register is and licks at her icecream as Stiles fills her tiny bag up with buttery popcorn, she pulls out her card and puts it into the chip reader once Stiles gets her purchase all set. She types in her pin and pulls out her card when it's transaction is finished.

"So maybe I should get your number so I know when I work."

"Oh, yeah! You're right. Totally right." He says before patting his pockets and finds his phone in his back pocket. He quickly hands it to Lydia and she hands her to his. After a few seconds they exchanged the phones back.

"Okay, well thanks Stiles. See you soon."

"Bye Lydia." He replies

Lydia walked out of the icecream shop with a delicious cone of Wild'n Reckless Sherbet, a bag of buttery smelling popcorn, a new job and a smile on her face.

Living in Beacon Hills really isn't that bad and she's glad that things are looking up.
