(IT'S THE ANNIVERSARY!!!)
Day 16

My nightmares flashed from evil blue eyes to my devastated mother, with her 'perfect' new family, to my father who had haunted me for years. The ice blue, blond hair, and then metallic shimmers of the knife. My life I had tried to keep and the walls I had put up were falling apart before my eyes. Just my mother and I knew what had really happened the night with my father, but she refused to acknowledge her weakness. That left me to stew in worry, about what could happen, and the life that I might not be able to have.I woke up to a phone ringing. My eyes slowly opened and I stretched my arms. All of my hair was completely frizzed up. Charlie smiled nervously while handing over my phone. "It's your mom." We both gulped.
"What do you want?" I groaned after pressing the talk button.
"That's not any way to talk to your mother."
"Look at the pot calling the kettle black."
"Anyways." She said, sounding exasperated. "William told you I got engaged?"
"Unfortunately." I sighed.
"We're all moving into Tate's house and I figured you'd want to pack your stuff yourself."
"I'll pack, but not while you're there, and I'm definitely not taking it to Tate's. I refuse for that place to be my home." I laughed.
"I am your mother and I say you have to. You have to live with your family."
"Well, then it's a good thing you're no family of mine. I'll text you when I'm coming to get my stuff, so make yourself scarce." With that, I hung up the phone.
Charlie smiled nervously.
"Do you think I was being a bit too harsh?"
"Um... a bit." He said.
"It's not like she didn't deserve it. It's not like she asked nicely. It's not like she even listens to me or takes my opinion into consideration."
"That's not completely true." I sneezed and he pulled away while speaking. "She let Mark stay with you, and that's better than most mothers. Anybody else wouldn't have let that happen." I thought about what he was saying. Especially with her past men experiences, why would she have let Mark stay with us?
"She's always tried her best, and of course she loves me, but sometimes your best isn't enough." I sneezed again. "It's probably because I remind her of my dad. That definitely doesn't help."
Charlie raised an eyebrow. "She doesn't like your father?"
"That's an understatement. I don't really wanna talk about it."
"I've got daddy issues too, I understand." He collapsed onto the bed next to me. "What do you want to do today?"
"Well I kind of wanted to go to school." I laughed.
"You're still sick." I tried to protest, but sneezed. "And you slept in anyways." He pointed to the clock. It read 12:00.
"I slept for like a day. What is life?"
"You were pretty tired." He grinned smugly.
I sneezed again. "I hate being sick."
"Can you still go out? I want to take you on a walk in the park." He said.
"Probably not a great idea, but sure. And by the way..." Charlie nodded for me to continue. "This is not a date, Charles."
"Not right now. Let's see how it goes first." I rolled my eyes and walked out of the room so I could get dressed.
