Chapter 28
Sammi's Point of View
1 month later
I don't know what I was thinking. Why was a such an idiot? I knew what was coming when I invited him over.
Why did I do that, again?
Because Sammy was being a dick. And I felt alone.
I still am alone.
Although, not technically.
I'm not alone because someone is living inside of me.
But yeah, other than that, I'm completely alone.
I start my day by waking up and immediately going to the toilet. I throw up, wipe my mouth, and sit on the ground for a couple minutes to make sure that was it.
"Sammi, did you throw up again?" my mom pokes her head in the bathroom.
"Yeah." I say.
"Honey, we need to take you to the doctor. I think you have to flu or something." My mom just thinks I'm sick, but its only morning sickness. The doctors have already confirmed that I'm pregnant, so there's no reason to go to the doctor.
"No, mom, I'm fine." I say.
"Sammi, this has been going on for days!" I can't go to the doctor, because she can't know I'm pregnant.
"I'll be fine, mom, just let me be." She let's me crawl back to my bed and pull out my laptop.
My mom comes to check on me one last time before leaving for work. I hear the door slam. Almost immediately after, my window opens.
"Sammy, leave." I say, and he shakes his head.
"You know, your the only person that has ever really called me Sammy." I shrugged. This is the first time he has spoken to me since the night I got back.
"You'll always be Sammy to me," I murmur, turning on my side.
"You haven't been at school for four days."
"I am aware."
"Why?"
"I'm sick." I answer plainly.
"You're never sick."
"Well, maybe when I am sick, I'm sick for a long time!" I snap. Neither of us speak.
"I saw you and Nate. The night you got back." He says randomly.
"What, while you had your tongue down that girl's throat?"
"I made her go home before we did anything."
"Liar."
"I don't lie."
"You plainly did that to make me angry."
"Liar."
"I don't lie."
"Sammi, you've lied about plenty of things." Sammy edges closer to my bed. "And I know for a fact that your lying about being sick."
I don't reply. Tears glaze my eyes and I look up at Sammy. They, I sob.
"Sammy, I-I don't know w-what I'm going t-to do," I cry, and hugs me. I cry into his shoulder.
"Shh, baby girl, it will be okay." He climbs into bed next to me and holds me.
"What am I supposed to do?" I whisper after awhile.
"We don't need to worry about that right now." Sammy says, stroking my hair. I look up at him and start to lean in, but he turns away.
"Sammi, I can't." He says, but doesn't get up from his spot beside me. "Not right now." I don't reply to this either.
"When should I tell Nate and my mom?" I ask.
"You haven't told Nate?" Sammy asks.
"I'm scared."
"Nate has a right to know, even if he doesn't want to know. He helped."
"But I called him."
"But he took advantage of you when you were weak."
"I can't tell him."
"Your telling him today." Sammy pulls out his phone and dials a number.
"Hey, Nate, come over to Sammi's house. We're upstairs." Then he hangs up.
"Your a terrible person." I say.
"I'm trying to help you." Sammy replies, getting up.
"Thank you." I say suddenly.
"I'll always be around to help you, Sammi." He says, and a door opens and closes downstairs. I hear footsteps up the step and Nate opens the door to my room.
"Hey, what happened?" Nate asks, and I get up in bed.
"I need to talk to you." I say, fiddling with my fingers. Sammy closes the door.
"Is it about you and Sammy?" Nate says quickly.
"N-no-" Nate cuts me off.
"If you guys are together, I won't mind." He seems a bit down when he says that though.
"No, its not about me and Sammy." I say quietly.
"Sammi, if you want me to forget that night, I will." Nate smiles.
"Its hard to forget when that was the night I got pregnant!" I yell out suddenly. Nate stares at me, clearly shocked.
"H-How?" he asks, sitting down beside me.
"We didn't use protection." I say quietly.
"Oh, god," Nate runs a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry. I fucked up."
"We both did." I reply.
"God, what are we supposed to do?" Nate asks.
"I don't know."
"Sammi, I'll be your boyfriend, heck, I'll even marry you." Nate says, grabbing my hand. "I want to be apart of this."
"I don't know." I say.
"Have you told your mom?"
"No."
"Maybe we should tell her we are dating before we tell her."
"It will be hard even if we don't tell her we are dating."
"Sammi, I want a shot at this. Us." He squeezes my hand, and I look up at him.
"I don't know."
"Give us a chance. I'll make it up to you, I promise."
"Okay, I'll give us a chance." I say after a long pause.
"YES!" Nate yells, and hugs me. "Sammi, we are in this together. We can do it." He gently pats my belly.
"Let's go out to eat." Nate suggests, and I nod.
"Sammy, you coming?" I ask as Nate pulls me out to his car.
"Nah, you guys have your time together." He smiles at me and Nate drives us off to a little diner. We order and talk.
"Man, I'm excited for this." Nate has a huge smile on his face.
"Woah, calm down," I say, laughing a bit.
"It just sounds good, you know? 'Nate, also known as dad'." His excitement is through the roof.
"I think I'm going to tell my mom we're dating again tonight." I say, and he nods.
"Good, because I want to be around more."
"We have a lot to figure out," I say.
Nate grabs my hand and rubs his thumb on the back of it.
"We don't need to worry about that stuff right now," he says, smiling. He kisses my forehead.
Its pretty hard to forget everything that happened with him, but today made me forget about them for a couple hours.
