"Kai needs me in his office? Since when he had an office?" Naeun asked.

"I promoted him last night. He's an Officer now." Daehyun replied.

Naeun gave him a confused look, but she let it go.

"I'm heading to where the rookies are. You should be heading to his office. Might be something important." Daehyun said.

"Right." she mumbled.

"Hope it's not something dirty." Daehyun winked.

"Oppa!" she exclaimed.

"Just teasing ya." Daehyun chuckled.

"So, you needed me here?" Naeun asked as she walked into his office.

"You...might want to sit down." Kai replied. Naeun did she was told.

Kai handed the file of the case.

"It's the file." he said.

"I thought----"

"Top secret? Nah, it's not a top secret case. Since you're going to be assisting me---"

"Assisting? Daehyun---"

"I asked him not to tell you. I rather tell you instead, since I'm going to be your husband-to-be." Kai said.

Naeun arched her brows as she looked at him.
She took the file and opened it.

"Him? Song Juk-Yeon? He's—-"

"He's that one guy who was following you in high school. Remember I pulled you into a corner while my friends dealt with him?" Kai said.

Naeun started to have flashbacks on that day. She remembers what he looked like before.

"Oh." she mumbled.

Kai sighed and leaned forward. "Naeun, today I'll be out all day. So I want you to stay here, okay?"

"What? Why?" she asked.

"It's dangerous outside and you're the next target. So I don't want you to go out there unless someone is with you." Kai replied.

"I came here just fine." Naeun said.

"With me. We came here together this morning." Kai said.

Naeun stayed shut.

"Minhae, my mind hasn't been thinking right."

Kai chuckled. "It's okay. I know everything is stressing us out. You can go back now. I also asked Lay to keep an eye on you too."

"Really? Lay has enough on his shoulders." Naeun said.

"And he agreed to keep an eye on you and he'll report it to me. Remember, I'm an Officer now." Kai smirked.

Naeun smirked back. "Yeah, yeah. Officer."

Kai and Naeun chuckled along.

That night, Kai and Naeun went home together. 

"What a long day." Kai said.
Naeun took off her shoes and sat on the couch.

She then sighed and closed her eyes for a bit.
"You okay?" Kai asked.

"Yeah. I'm okay." She replied.
"I'll order dinner." Kai said.

"I'm not hungry. You can go ahead and order one for you. I'm heading to sleep." Naeun said as she got up. As soon as she got up, Kai stopped her.

"Are you okay, Naeun? You usually don't sleep this early."

"I'm fine." She muttered.

Kai pulled her close and looked at her.

"It's about the case, right?"
"No."

"Then what's on your mind?" Kai asked.

Naeun looked at Kai's eyes and looked what's around her waist.

"Ummm....." she pulled back away from Kai.
"It's nothing."

She took the chance to escape but, Kai stopped her.

"You're wondering why I'm acting this way? Or you're wondering when are we going to begin our wedding?" Kai asked.

Naeun sighed and brushed his hand off her.
"It's not like...I mean, I know I promised your Dad, but it seems it's not going well. Maybe we should—-"

Kai cut her off buy pulling her into his arms. With a secure hug.

"Don't leave me, please." He mumbled.

Naeun stood there shocked. "Deep down in your heart, you don't love me."

"That's not true."
Kai looked into her eyes and leaned in the closer. He pecked her lips.

Naeun gently pushed him away. "Don't do that again."

She then walked to her room and locked the door.

"Weird." Kai mumbled.
