The Demon's Lover (Meliodas)

Chapter 39

Ayano sighs and walks into the room "It's been 3000 years since the Holy War... But during its midst... For the sins... Elizabeth and Meliodas, this is the punishment they set upon them. Meliodas, for assisting the goddess clan as well as taking the hand of one from the goddess clan and furthermore, the sin of betraying his own comrades and killing them. And Elizabeth, as one of the goddess clan, for uniting with one from the demon clan, becoming obsessed with said demon and falling in love with him..."

"I understand how the captain would know all this" Ban speaks "but how would Aya?"

"Because she was there.. right?" Diane questions looking at Ayano "You've been alive all this time too haven't you?" she looks at King "remember when we went back into those two's body, we saw Ayano there as.." she looks at Ayano

Ayano sighs "yes I was there, as you all know I'm a goddess turned demon. 3000 years ago I was Meliodas's fiancé appointed by the demon King, at the time we met me and Meliodas weren't really in love, but I guess you could say we fell for each other as Meliodas trained me to use my powers"

"Though shortly after that was when I met Elizabeth" Meliodas tells them "Me and Ayano were an official thing, so I guess you can say my little goddess was jealous that I had a small crush on a goddess, but believe me I still loved Aya more then-"

"You were my fiancé" Ayano glances at him "but anyway, because Meliodas and Elizabeth worked together they were punished"

"Punished? By who?" King asks

"Both of our gods" Meliodas replies "The one who controls the demon clan, The Demon King. The one who governs the goddess class, The Supreme Deity... me and Elizabeth lost our lives"

"Or at least they should have" Ayano says

"I still don't know how much time passed, whether it was one day or a few days, but I woke up... Together in the position I died in and my wounded body had been completely restored to normal but Elizabeth lay dead beside me" Meliodas explains "The only thing I knew was that while I was unconscious, the Holy War had ended"

"It was only about 3 months" Ayano mutters

"I wondered through the battle-torn Britannia, ravaged by the Holy War for awhile before I met Elizabeth once again, she didn't have any wings like the Elizabeth who died, but she looked exactly like her. Something inside me told me it was her, but when I hugged her she punched me away so I figured out soon enough she had no memory of me" Meliodas says and closes his eyes

"During all of this I'm in the demon realm by the way" Ayano tells them "all the demons were sealed away, unable to leave the realm, though.. we'll get to me soon, keep going Meli"

Meliodas continues "So this Elizabeth was apart of the Savage Tribe, we got to know each other and begun to share things... the love curse-"

"Hold it, what love curse?" Ban asks

"We'll get to that, just shush" Ayano replies

"The love curse took over and I kinda fell in love with her. One day, Elizabeth's right eye underwent a transformation and at the same time her powers awakened, along with the symbol of the goddess clan, the power to heal also manifested itself. Elizabeth was reborn" Meliodas continues "I told Elizabeth all about her past life and that triggered Elizabeth's memories of her previous life beginning to return in fragments.

 And soon the goddess symbol began to appear in the left eye as well. She told me she remembered everything and I was so happy... She told me we had been cursed... then 3 days later... Elizabeth died right before my eyes.

They cursed us with Eternal Life and Perpetual Reincarnation, I will never again age and even if I should die, I will be revived and Elizabeth will continue to live out short lifespan as a human and each time she will forget all memories of her previous lives. 

Whenever she regains her memories then no matter what happens, even if I try to protect her after three days, she will die... It's unavoidable... Every time she returns she will meet me and fall in love with me, and then I fall in love with her.. that is the love curse."

"So what about Ayano?" Ban asks

"I am the inhibitor" Ayano looks away "because I was part goddess the seal put on the demon race was unable to seal me within the demon realm"

"What does that mean?" King asks "that you're the inhibitor"

"I was and still am Meliodas's fiancé, no matter how many times he falls in love with Elizabeth because of the curse" Ayano sighs "I am the one that oversees them throughout their everlasting life, and I am the only one that knows how to break the curse, I guess you could say this was my punishment for not being able to keep Meliodas on the dark side"

"But if you know how to break the curse then why don't you just tell him?!" Diane asks confused

"She can't" Meliodas looks over at them "their's a spell on her that prevents her from telling me" he stands up and takes Ayano's hand "I'm sorry"

"I know.." Ayano pulls her hand away gently

"So is the one Meliodas really loves, Ayano? But he falls in love with Elizabeth because of the curse?" Ban asks

"Yeah" Meliodas answers

"hmph" Ayano looks away

"What?" Meliodas questions

"nothing nothing" Ayano walks away

"Ayano!" Meliodas grabs her arm "hey what's wrong?"

"I said nothing!" Ayano pulls her arm away and faces him

"Ayano if you have something to say just say it" King says

"Whatever you have to get off your chest you just should" Ben tells her "you might feel better then just holding it in"

"...fine you wanna know" Ayano glares at Meliodas who nods "You have the love curse because you fell in love with her! Your problem is you're in love with 2 different girls! And i'm sick and tired of playing your fiancé! You always say you love me but you're still in love with her! I hate this! I hate watching you fall in love with her over and over but still have the nerve to be in love with me! The whole reason I left years ago was cause after 3000 years of this shit i've finally had it and just wanted to be alone!"

Ayano pushes past the sins and runs to her room

"Ayano!" Meliodas runs after her, he tries to open the door but it's locked "hey come on let's talk about this"

"Go away!" Ayano shouts

"Aya I'm sorry" Meliodas leans against the door as a tear goes down his face "I never wanted this to happen.. I'm sorry.. I've been trying to break the curse you know that"

Ayano sits in her room glaring at the door as her eyes glow red, she mumbles to herself "don't blame me for what happens next Meli, you two have brought this on yourselves"
