MISTAKE | Minho / The Maze Runner

Vera was a Med-jack. She liked her job. She liked to help people. What she didn't like was seeing Newt and Nick drag an unconscious Minho into the Med-hut.

"What the shuck happened?" she shrieked, dropping the bandages she was holding and rushing over to them.

"Accident in the Maze, he's lost a lot of blood," Newt said, a panicked tone to his voice, something that was rare for the British boy who was usually very level-headed.

Vera helped the boys place him on the bed, and immediately went into full on doctor mode, inspecting the Asian boy who had a deep cut on his back. She ripped the thin shirt he was wearing, tossing it aside.

He would be fine, she finally decided. He needed some stiches, but he would be just fine. It's Minho, nothing can happen to him.

Vera sighed, sliding down the walls of the Med-hut. She was done. She stitched him up, and now she would wait here until he woke up.

The sight of Minho lying there, unconscious, made Vera realize something. She wouldn't know what to do with herself if she lost him. He was one of the original Gladers. The one who helped Vera adjust to being the only girl in the Glade. She loved him. She loved all the Gladers, but looking at Minho, on the brink of death not even two hours ago, it made her feel something else. Something new. Something friends weren't supposed to feel, but this was the Glade; there wasn't time for any of that.

"Like what you're looking at?" Minho said tiredly, but nonetheless, a stupid grin on his face.

"Slinthead," Vera seethed, "you almost died."

"I'm still here though, aren't I?"

"You shank!" Vera cried, tears welling up in her eyes.

At the sight of this, Minho frowned. Vera was strong, she wasn't one to get upset easily, Minho knew this. Minho knew Vera better than anyone.

"Be more careful, Minho," she whispered, blue eyes holding a wavering gaze with his dark brown ones. "I don't know what I would do if I lost you."

"I'm not going anywhere, shuckface," he grinned cheekily. "You're stuck with me."
