Everything was running smoothly in the Glade, it seemed as if finally, things were going back to normal. Vera was laying in her bed with Minho. As the only girl in the Glade, she got her own room.
"Y'know Alby will kill you if he finds out you're here right now," Vera whispered, turning to face Minho.
"I don't gotta follow the fourth rule," Minho smirked, "nobody touches Vera," he said, mocking Alby's voice.
"Slinthead," Vera muttered, but there was a smile on her face.
"Shuckface."
Minho sat still for a moment, but then he worked up the courage to gently place his hand on her cheek. The feeling of it instantly warming up beneath his hand gave him the confidence to lean in for a kiss. Vera closed her eyes, savouring the feeling of Minho's lips on hers.
She wished she could have a normal life with him. A life where they could go to school, and hang out with their friends at a mall, do things a normal teenager would do. She wished she could kiss him without the fear of losing him the next day to a Griever in the Maze.
They pulled away, eyes never leaving each other's faces.
"Do you ever think about what it would be like to have a normal life?" Vera asked quietly.
"All the time," he whispered, "I think about getting out of this place a lot, I think about us."
They were quiet for a moment, until Minho spoke up again, "I think about us getting married, once we're out of here."
Vera was shocked, she never thought Minho would be the type of guy to say that.
"I love you. I love you so shucking much, Minho," Vera said, "we'll get out of here, and we'll get married, and we'll have a shucking dog and live in our own house and invite Frypan over so he can cook dinner, because we're both klunk when it comes to cooking."
Minho smiled, before a sad look crossed his face, "I wonder if we knew each other, before we lost our memories."
"Maybe we did, maybe we didn't, but I know you now, that's what matters to me," Vera said.
"I love you, Slinthead."
"I love you more, shuckface."
