Chapter Forty- Six - Terrance Archibald''No Oswald.'' I scolded, trying and failing at shooing away the curious gray cat that's been slowly inching it's way up my bed towards where Zayden and I laid but royally failing as Oswald managed to curl up right beside Zayden who gurgled a few spit bubbles contently. I sighed, bringing Zayden up closer to my chest. I didn't want to risk Oswald's fur getting into my little man's mouth and not to mention Cloud walking in and losing his mind thinking that the cat is trying to smother the baby.
I leaned forward and kissed Zayden's forehead just as Cloud was entering with a heated up bottle and a smile taking over his features which soon vanished into a frown at the sight of Oswald whom spared not even a glance in Cloud's direction and instead focused it's wide blown green eyes onto Zayden.
''What is the cat doing up here?'' Cloud asked, stalking forward and plucked up Oswald who mewled in response to being man handled and dangled out in Cloud's hands. ''He could smother Zayden.''
''Cloud, calm down, I made sure he wasn't anywhere near our son's face.'' I soothed, understanding his concern but also annoyed how he still hasn't warmed up to Oswald our pet.
''The cat still shouldn't be near Zayden right now.'' Cloud said, turning on his heel and stalked back over to the bedroom door, placing the cat down outside the threshold before closing the door shut and stalked back to the bed with the warm bottle of formula in hand.
''Pass me the bottle.'' I told him, holding out my free hand which happened to be my left hand and Cloud handed it over and I placed the nipple by Zayden's mouth and he latched onto the rubber eagerly.
''How are you feeling?'' Cloud asked me, his dark blue orbs staring me down.
''Tired and a little sore but just really freaking happy to be out of the hospital and it's really nice to have some quiet,'' I admitted. ''As much as I love our families and friends—their sarcasm and bantering knows no bounds and they're loud...like all the time.''
Cloud laughed quietly. ''Gotta agree with you there.''
''Mhm.'' I hummed, keeping my gaze down on Zayden who blinked up at me and I grinned, watching as he struggled to keep his blue eyes open and I knew how he was feeling—I have been completely and utterly exhausted this last week but completely and utterly over the moon happy too.
''Hey, lay down and sleep for a bit, I'll finish feeding him.'' Cloud spoke up and I realized my eyelids were closing without my consent and I opened my mouth to argue but I was tired right down to my bones and I nodded in agreement, taking the bottle away from Zayden who furrowed his non-existent eyebrows in confusion before letting out a screeched cry.
''Shh,'' I shushed him, passing Cloud the bottle. ''Your other daddy is gonna finish feeding you.''
Cloud gently took a crying Zayden into his arms and once again held the nipple of the bottle to his open mouth and ceased the crying when Zayden latched on, reaching his tiny closed fisted hands up to try and keep the bottle from escaping once again. I smiled at that, adjusting my body onto my side to get comfortable. Zayden was a happy baby, the only occasion he'd cry would be when he had a full nappy or he was hungry—other then that he was a little angel.
Our little angel, I thought with a stupid tired smile before my eyes fell shut and I drifted off into a deep and much needed sleep.
I woke up groggy and to the feel of fingers dabbing something that felt like cream onto my scar and I jolted with a start, turning my attention to Cloud who pulled his hands away and glanced up with a frown that reminded me of a small child getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar. I suddenly felt self conscious because at the moment (only having gotten the staples out yesterday morning) my scar looked disgusting.
