A Confession

With Theo now having Lydia as someone who he could go to for just about anything, his days got much better and easier. He was able to ramble to her everyday during lunch about some of his classes, as well as get some help on understanding things. She also helped him by letting him ramble about guys. Any guy, even though it was almost always Liam, she would just listen.
Theo still hadn't gone to Sinema like she had recommended, but he was planning to that weekend. They would get back Friday night after winning their lacrosse game and he would go to the club as a reward to himself. Win or lose, he was going. It was what he felt like he needed to try.
With the approaching game, Coach Finstock trained all of the boys harder. Especially Liam, Theo, and Cory. He knew they could take it, but it was difficult on them. Theo wasn't used to that much physical activity so he was struggling the most. He was exceptional up until they had to do drills. That's where he failed.
Then again, many people struggled to do a lot of the exercises that coach came up with seeing as most of them are exaggerated. But they just kept pushing and pushing. Theo was bound to get used to it eventually, as much as he hated the fact that he was doing it all.
As Friday finally hit, Coach excused everyone from all of their classes for the trip down to San Francisco. The game was directly after school so they needed to be down there early. Theo was placed next to, of course, Liam on the bus. Coach saw it was a smart idea for the newest player to sit next to one of the captains and he wanted Nolan up in the very front with him for who knew what reason.
Coach was giving a random speech as he looked around the bus, Theo not paying any bit of attention considering no one ever did. He could tell that, even though he was acting like it, Liam was listening to music. He had it low but was able to use his enhanced hearing to only listen to it while it was in just his pocket.
Once Coach sat down, Liam looked over at Theo curiously. "So, you excited about today? Only your second game but, without you, we wouldn't be going here. If we win today then we're going to state. I'm happy, and so are the others, but you haven't said anything about the game since Monday."
"I mean, yeah I'm excited," Theo responded truthfully, looking at the beta next to him. "I just have some other things on my mind. Lydia told me I needed to get out more and told me to go to Sinema, so I'm going when we get back."
"Wait, why Sinema?" Liam asked, giving him a confused look. "Don't you hate that place?" The beta chuckled, shaking his head at the thought of the chimera enjoying himself at the club.
"It's a long story," Theo told Liam with a shy chuckle, looking out of the bus window. "Just trying to figure a bunch of stuff out is all."
"I understand that," Liam responded with a smile. He patted Theo on the leg, making Theo jump slightly. He was surprised at the interaction and had to hold himself together for reasons he didn't know why.

The rest of the drive went by in silent. Theo listened in on Liam's music the entire ride, enjoying all of the music as he had his eyes closed. Stopping at the school, the team climbed out of the bus, listening to coach scream something that wasn't understandable at all. Then again, that was normal. Especially in circumstances like today.
As they approached the field, wanting to get used to the terrain with Liam and Nolan in the front followed closely by Cory and Theo, they came face to face with nearly the entire opposing team. With the usual standing ground, silent mental war between them, Theo caught something strong hit him. Looking around for a moment for the source, he then noticed what it was. Around the field was a radiant thing. Something in the paint.
Theo grabbed Liam's arm, causing him to look at him. "Their paint is infused with mountain ash," Theo told him through gritted teeth. It didn't effect him or Cory, but Liam wasn't able to get on to the field at all. Even though mountain ash usually had to be see, Theo had the scent in his mind since the night of the super moon.
Liam looked at Theo confused for a moment before looking back at the opposing team, watching as they smirked. Unless it was broke, he couldn't play. "That's messed up," Liam said annoyed. Looking beyond the group, one person stood inside of the field. Whoever painted the lines did it recently, and whoever that was, if they were like Liam, they were inside the line from the start.
