~ Pov Louis ~

After school I walk home alone. Liam ignored me the whole day while Niall tried to compromise between us. I have a feeling this situation might last longer than I want it to.

When I arrive at my driveway I see a moving van at the neighbors and strangers walking around with boxes. My gaze falls upon a blond boy sitting on a small wall that connects our houses. I vaguely remember this house being sold last month. Our old neighbors moved across the country for their work, but I didn't know that those new people would move in today.

I walk towards the boy hesitantly and when I stand in front of him, he looks up from his phone. "Hi, I'm Louis. Your neighbor," I say as I point towards my house. The boy immediately stands up and sticks out his hand that I shake. "Oh hi! I'm Jason. My parents and I are going to live here." I nod at the house that's now theirs. "I see." He bites his lip innocently and his bright green eyes shine. "Do you want anything to drink?" "I'd like to, really. But I can't. I'm meeting someone." "Oh, okay. Maybe later." I nod. "Seems like a plan."

With a smile I say goodbye to the new boy and walk through my front door. I immediately go upstairs and grab my swimming trunks after which I run towards the living room. "Mom? Can I go to Harry's place?" She looks up from her computer and nods with a smile. "Alright. But don't make it too late. "Okay. Thanks." I want to leave, but she stops me. "Louis, I know it isn't any of my business, but I didn't know that you and Harry got along again." I bite my lip while I lean against the doorframe. "Uhm... Yes. Something wrong with that?" She heavily shakes her head. "Not at all. I've always thought it was a shame that your friendship with him fell apart. He's a good guy, Louis." I nod. "I know."

Not much later I'm at Harry's front door. I ring the bell and wait patiently. A few seconds later he opens the door. "Come in." I pass him into the hallway and follow him to the room where their pool is. Harry already has his swimming trunks on and I find it hard not to look at the tattoos on his toned body.

I'm glad that I also put on my swimming trunks before I came here. And although it's almost October, it's still nice and warm outside. I take off my coat and put it on a chair with my towel and bag, but I keep my white shirt on.

Harry unexpectedly jumps into the pool, causing the water to hit me against my skin. His body emerges after a few seconds and his long curls are now soaked and flat. "Are you coming?" I nod and sit on the edge of the pool so that my feet can patter a little in the water. Harry frowns for a moment. "Aren't you going to take your shirt off?" I shake my head. "Nah, I'm good."

He nods and swims towards me. He's standing with his two feet on the ground and there's about a meter distance between us. Yet I can't help but look at his body surrounded by water, his hair soaking wet. "You wanted to talk about something?" I nod and let my gaze fall into my lap. "Yes. Liam and I sort of got into a fight because of you." He raises his eyebrows. "Me? Why?" I sigh. "Liam and Niall think you have a bad influence on me and that I shouldn't be- That you shouldn't be-" "That we shouldn't we be what?" "Kissing." He bites his lower lip so that his lip piercing is also clamped between his lips. "Why?" I shrug. "They don't trust you." "And you?" I look at him through my lashes and his green eyes look at me persuasive. I can no longer wander my gaze to anything else. "That isn't the point." "It is." His voice sounds harsher. "What do you feel, Louis? Do you trust me?"

My mouth hangs slightly open but no proper syllables come out for the first few seconds. "I don't know..." His face darkens, or I just imagine that. "If you don't trust me, than why don't you just listen to them? You can leave if you want to, so why don't you?" The space between us has narrowed and his hands rest on both of my thighs. I swallow the lump in my throat. "Because-" "Because what?" "Because I can't! I don't want to, for some reason. It's like I'm stuck." His grip tightens. "Than stay. Don't leave me." His voice is barely a whisper. "I can't do this to Niall and Liam. I promised to quit." "Quit what?" "You. I promised to quit you." He brings his lips closer to mine but does not seek contact. "Quitting sounds a bit like giving up. Are you saying you're giving up on me?" I close my eyes. "I- You know I can't do this to them."

"They don't have to know. It would be our secret..." I take a shaky breathe and shake my head. "I can't lie to them. I don't want to." His fingers caress my skin slowly towards my hips and I shiver. "You'll have to choose. Quit me and be honest or stay with me and hide it." "You're making it difficult for me." "Choose," he whispers through his teeth, "them or me." "Harry," I warn him. He can't expect me to choose between them.

"Choose, Louis." His voice is getting louder while his forehead leans against mine. I shake my head. "No. I won't." He lets go of my body and pulls back and just as he's about to swim away, I grab his shoulders and press my lips roughly on his. He groans against my lips from the unexpected movement. I clamp my legs around his hips and push him closer to me as his hands run across my back, soaking my shirt.

And in that moment, I realise, I've already chosen.
