~ Pov Louis ~

I shake my head as I walk into the classroom. I let myself slide into a seat somewhere in the back while Niall and Liam sit in front of me. "And he's a dick," Liam ads. "Who's a dick?" I look up at Harry who stands next to me. "You," I say as he sits down next to me. Niall snorts but as soon as Harry gives him a dead stare he turns around. I look at Harry who's already looking at me. "Why are you sitting next to me?," I whisper as the class starts. "Because I have to ask you something." I frown. "Okay. Go ahead."

He clears his throat and he looks a little uncomfortable. "There's this party Saturday and I was wondering if you wanted to come with me..." I bite my bottom lip. "Are you asking me out on a date?" "No." I frown. "I mean yes." I frown even harder. What's he trying to do? "Just- Just say yes or no." I hesitate for a moment. "Y-Yes. I want to go with you." He nods. "Okay. I'll pick you up at 9pm." "That late?" He chuckles. "Louis, believe me when I say that's pretty early for a party."

"Who's party is it actually?" He shrugs. "I don't know." "Then why are you going?" "Because there will be alcohol and hot girls." He says it like it's the most obvious thing there is. "And boys," I add. He shifts uncomfortable in his seat and coughs. "Yeah." I force a smile. "Not that we have to worry about those hot girls and boys." He frowns. "Why not?" "Because it's a date we're going on? You don't go fuck around with other people when you're with someone else." He looks at me like I just told him his cat died. And for a moment that face makes me laugh inside.

"You do know how dates work, right?" He shakes his head. "No. I don't. Why do you even know how it works? It's not like you've ever been on one." "And apparently you neither." He gives me a look. "No, but seriously," he says "how do you know this stuff?" I shrug. "Movies." He grins. "You mean these sappy romantic movies?" I open my mouth, offended. "There's nothing wrong with them!" "Everything is wrong with them!" I feel how I'm getting excited as a smile starts to creep on my face. "Than what's so bad about them?" "It's just so cliché. The popular guy in school notices the ugly girl, they fall in love, have some struggles and have their happy ending. Or you have two people who deny their love and just cry during the whole movie but still manage to get their happy ending. Than you also have a movie that's full of love, beginning to end. And guess what? They also have a happy ending!"

I look at him, thinking. "So the problem is the happy ending? You're just that sad of a person? You don't want people to be happy? Everything has to end bad and sad?" He shakes his head. "No. The problem is that it's just so boring. Because you see everything coming, it's no surprise." I let my head rest on my hand, still looking at him. "You know, that's why I like them. Because it's so different from reality. You know what's going to happen because you're looking from the outside. But if you're in the middle of your own love story, you'll never see it coming. Your friends might, your family, strangers. But you? You won't. Because you're in love, you never see things coming because in that moment you're just blind. And if you fall out of love, everything will make sense."

He grins. "So you're saying that when you're in love you're basically nothing more than a dumb person who can't think straight?" I pucker my lips a bit. "Yeah, something like that. Does that make any sense to you?" He shrugs. "I wouldn't know. My relationships never came to that point." I laugh a bit too loud. "Of course they didn't! They never lasted longer than two minutes! It takes time, you know?" "Well, than what about love at first sight?" I think for a moment. "I don't think that exists." Harry raises his eyebrows as he still looks at me. "Are you serious? You? Don't believe in love at first sight? Why not?"

I shrug. "I think that people like to think they fell in love with a person the first moment they saw them. But I think if you're desperate for love that you'll try to look for it in every person. I do think you can find a person interesting and a beautiful soul, but does that mean that you're in love? It's the moments after the first time you saw them, the time you spend together, the conversations you have, things you discover the other person does. I think that it's those moments that make you fall in love with someone for who they really are. And being in love must be awesome, but the feeling after it must be so much better." "What feeling?" "Love. The feeling of love." "Isn't that the same? Being in love and love?" I shake my head. "No. I mean, I don't know. But I don't think it's the same. It's more serious. More real. Do you get that?"

He looks at me, thinking for a moment. But then he just shakes his head and rolls his eyes as he looks at the teacher at the front. "You think too much, Louis. You watch way to many movies." I shrug. "You know? I will find a romantic movie that you'll like. You just have to wait." "Whatever, Louis."
