{Chapter Start}
Eggman looked on into the distance, grinning and chuckling to himself, feeling he had outdone himself with his new plan. He knew if he went after the Chaos Emeralds himself, Sonic would be on his trail not long after he began. He tried to think of ways he could stop or at least slow the hedgehog down. He realized that anything short of Metal Sonic he sent at his blue nemesis would be destroyed, and he couldn't make an army of Metal Sonics, though the thought was interesting, not to mention oh so tempting. It was then that a thought hit him, what if he could get Sonic to collect the Emeralds for him. The thought was almost immediately thrown out into the trash and burned for how ludicrous it sounded, even if the blue rat got a hold of the Chaos Emeralds, he would never just hand them over to Eggman, and if he tried taking them by force, he'd be reintroduced to Super Sonic, and he didn't want to add another defeat to his name.
