Sibling Reunion

Departure

{Story Start}

Sonic walked through the forest of the floating land known as Angel Island, looking for the Guardian of both the island and the Master Emerald, Knuckles the Echidna. It had been a while since he and his siblings had been on the floating mass of land, so he wanted to pay the red echidna a visit.

When Sonic saw  the red guardian sitting on the alter to the Master Emerald with what looked like a recorder of all things in his hand, "Yo Knucklehead, how's it been?" Sonic raised his hand for a high five, only to put it down when he saw the serious look on Knuckles' face, " Hey Sonic. Sorry to dump this on you, but it seems Robotnik's been a lot more active then we all thought. Over the past few weeks I've been seeing Swat-bot groups all around Mobotropolis, like they're gathering supplies or something. At first I thought Robotnik was planning a new invasion, but what I heard might be even worse." Knuckles showed Sonic the recorder, "The conversation on that is one I got ahold of while he was talking to Sleet and Dingo." "Well, let's hear it."

Knuckles pressed the play button, "Sleet, you will be in charge of what is left of my Swat-bots while I am away, so you had best not mess anything up, understand?!" "Of course your roundness, I will be sure to keep the Swat-bots and Dingo from doing anything compromising." "Good. If all goes well, and the legend of these "Chaos Emeralds" is true, then both Queen Aleena and her blasted children will be nothing more then stepping stones to my rise to glory!" Sonic heard Robotnik give a loud and boisterous laugh before the recording was cut.

Sonic looked to Knuckles with a shocked expression, while the red Mobian looked just as serious as ever, "Knuckles, this is big." "I know, I was planning on telling you and your siblings as soon as I could, but-" "Between rebuilding Mobotropolis, getting rid of the chumps that Buttnik helped, and working on the De-Roboticizer, we've all been swamped with work." Sonic sighed before running his hand through his quills, "And I thought taking the lard jerk down would be the hardest thing we'd have to do."  Knuckles crossed his arms while looking at Sonic, who seemed to be pondering, "Well Sonic, what are you gonna do?" the blue hedgehog sighed at Knuckles' question, he knew what had to be done, but he also knew his brother and sister weren't gonna like it, "Knuckles, you think these "Chaos Emeralds" are as powerful as Buttnik said? Would they really let him reconquer Mobotropolis that easily?" "I only know bits and pieces about them, but I do know that there supposed to be almost as powerful as the Master Emerald." 

That statement made Sonic frown deeply, if that was true, then Robotnik would be able to conquer not just Robotropolis, but the entirety of Mobius, "Alright, then we gotta go after him. If Buttnik gets his hands on those emeralds, there's no telling what kinda havoc he'll bring." Knuckles nodded at Sonic's statement, "Yeah, we should probably get Manic and Sonia here fast." Sonic shook his head in negative which made Knuckles looked to the blue hedgehog with widened eyes, "Those two need to help mom rebuild Mobotropolis, I'll take care of this on my own." while Knuckles did admit there was logic in what Sonic was saying, he knew there was something else that Sonic wasn't telling him, though he didn't press the hedgehog for answers, "Alright fine, guess we'll have to take care of this ourselves." Sonic looked to the guardian echidna with a raised eyebrow, "Don't you have an ancient giant emerald you already have to worry about?" Knuckles smirked at Sonic's sarcastic question, before walking to the Master Emerald and placing his hand on it.

Before Sonic could say anything else, he felt the Island under his feet shake, as if it were moving, "Bet you weren't expecting this from my island, or the Master Emerald were you?" Sonic just looked dumbfounded, which Knuckles took enjoyment in, before cracking a smirk, "Can't say I was. Well, next stop South Island, Captain Knucklehead!" Knuckles rolled his eyes, but continued on the path to South Island.
