KNY | In Different Circles (Muichiro X Tanjirou)

Chapter 6

Muichiro’s POV
 
 
I could see my breath in front of me as I walked down the street, I made my way to school quickly. The air was foggy, and the sky was grey, ‘It’ll probably rain today’ I thought, as I looked up at the sky. I sighed, ‘I forgot my umbrella…’

I walked onto the tarmac of the school and looked around, we still had about five minutes left until first period.
“Muichiro!” I looked over to see Tanjirou walking over to me. “Good morning!” he smiled.

“Good morning Tanjirou” I said shyly.

“Hey, I wanted to know if you’re going on that field trip for science class?” he asked.

“Um, yeah, I think I will” I said.

“Well that’s great, I’ll be there too, I’m sure it’ll be awesome” he said cheerily.

I smiled at his reaction, ‘He wants me there?’ I thought to myself happily.

I sat in homeroom, Tanjirou sitting across from me. “So that’s why my favourite colour is red” he said. Class was yet to start so me and him were just making small talk.
“Can I ask you something?” he asked.

“Sure” I said.

“Is that your natural hair colour? You don’t have to answer, but I think it’s kinda cool to have coloured tips like that” he asked.

“Heh, yeah this is natural”

“Wow, that’s so cool!” he exclaimed.

I blushed slightly, “Thanks” I said shyly.

Mr. Tomioka walked into class, “Alright, everyone shut up” with that everyone quickly quieted down, and the
class started.

I looked out onto the court, it was now gym class, the one class that he despised with every fibre in his being.

“I’m sure you’ll be fine” Tanjirou said next to me “It’s only basketball” he was obviously trying to cheer me up.

“The sport is irrelevant, it’s the fact that I’m being forced to participate that ticks me off. Also the gendered boundaries, seven out of ten times Mr. Rengoku puts me on a girl team, so I don’t get hurt when he forces us to play i n  teams” I said “And even then nobody ever wants me on their team and the girls make fun off me, this class is completely useless. It’s not like it’s gonna help me get into college”

“Well even so, gym class is supposed to be fun and keep you active and healthy” he said, trying to make me see the positive.

“Alright, let’s all pair off into partners, we’re going to be playing basketball in teams!” Mr. Rengoku announced.

“Let’s be partners!” Tanjirou said suddenly, hooking his arm around mine.

“Alright” we walked over to Mr. Rengoku.

“Tanjirou and Damien will be team captains, let’s pick teams” he started “Muichiro, I’ll have you on the girls side for this” Mr. Rengoku said, pointing to the other side of the gym where all the girls were separating into two groups.

I sighed, “Ok” I started to the other side.

“Actually, Mr. Rengoku I would like to have Muichiro on my team” Tanjirou spoke up.

“Um, you ok with that, Muichiro?” Mr. Rengoku asked.

“Yes, sure” I nodded quickly.

“Alright” he said “Tanjirou’s team on the left, Damien’s team on the right”
