Chapter 15

Tanjirou’s POV
 
“I actually saw her, and she was adorable I swear she looked like a doll!”

Nezuko was raving on and on about my new ‘girlfriend’ while everyone at the dinner table sat and listened quietly. I don’t know why but I had the genius idea of letting Nezuko believe that I had a girlfriend.

“I would like to add that I don’t have a girlfriend-“ I started.

“Hush, you don’t have to be embarrassed Tanjirou this is a perfectly normal stage of your life, now when are you going to invite her over?” my Mother asked

“Yes, you’ve never had a girlfriend, I want to see her before I believe it” my Dad chuckled. The all my other siblings piped in on when I was going to invite her over.

“But I don’t have girlfriend” I tried to say, but they were all to busy.

“Tell us more Nezuko!” my Mom urged, “What does she look like, do you know?”

“Ok, so she has super long dark hair with the tips dyed like this turquoise colour-“ she started

“It’s actually a natural colour…” I mumbled.

“Even better, that makes her that much cuter! She has these turquoise eyes and gorgeous pale skin, almost like a vampire. And she’s short and like almost boney, but she’s got such a cute face, here I took a picture!” she started taking out her phone.

“Oh my gosh that’s so creepy!” I yelled.

“Look, isn’t she adorable!?” Nezuko slid the phone across the table to my parents before I could snatch it. Dad grabbed it out of my reach quickly out of my reach and flipped the phone to see the picture.

“Oh Tanjirou, she’s adorable!” dad exclaimed.

“Aw, she’s cute, you need to invite her over right now!” my Mom said excitedly.

“You guys, Muichiro isn’t my girlfriend!” I tried.

“Oh so her name is Muichiro! What a cute name!” Nezuko gasped.

“Mm, now that I think about it I get the feeling that’s I’ve seen her before” Mom tilted her head at the picture.

‘Oh shit…’

“Mm, no I don’t think I have, never mind” she waved it off like she hadn’t just almost given me a heart attack.
I fought the urge to sigh a breath of relief, thank God for her bad memory.

“You guys, Muichiro’s not my girlfriend, we’re just close friends” I sighed as I scooped a spoonful of mashed potatoes into my mouth.

“Alright Tanjirou, she’s not your girlfriend” he added a wink at the end of his sentence.

“Why’d you wink?” I asked.

“Oh, no reason, my eye just twitched” he said with a sly smile facing his plate of food.
We all finished our food with light chatter, after dad had so obviously winked at the rest of the table, signaling that they’d discuss it later when I wasn’t around… of course. I’d have to warn Muichiro about a creepy girl following him around taking pictures of him.

Girlfriend… what a funny word, the relationship before marriage, but isn’t girlfriend just a title? Even so, I wouldn’t mind calling Muichiro my girlfriend, that title would suit him nicely. I thought to myself as I laid in bed. ‘I wonder what’d he say if I asked him out? Would he say yes or no?’ I tortured myself with delusions of Muichiro and me, actually being together. ‘He’s probably not even gay, what would he say if I told him?’ I groaned at the thought. “What would he say?”  
 
Muichiro’s POV 
 
It was early, the sun was starting to rise, I walked through the park, Pebble’s leash in hand. We walked slowly through the morning air, I breathed it in, a small cloud of fog slipped my lips as I exhaled. I walked with my hands stuffed in the pockets of my jacket, the weather was starting to get colder and colder it’d been almost two weeks since the Autumn Fair, so winter would come soon. I looked down at Pebbles, she shivered a little as she walked, ‘I need to get her a jacket or something, maybe some snowshoes’ I thought.
Me and Pebbles walked back into the apartment, it was time for me to quickly get ready and give Pebbles her breakfast.

I quickly threw on some loose boyfriend jeans, a warm light grey sweatshirt that had one of those sown in white collars that made it look like you had a white dress shirt underneath. I pulled my hair up into a messy bun that sat halfway up the back of my scalp with some loose strands.
I slipped on my yellow high tops at the door as I swung my bag over my shoulder. I bid goodbye to Pebbles and was out the door.

I sat in homeroom, I was bored and tired, some people around me whispered a few things that I didn’t catch but it was most likely about me because they kept glancing at me.

‘I miss Tanjirou’ I though as I turned to look out the window, ‘At least he treats me like an actual person’
The day went by slowly and quickly at the same time if that’s even possible. Every class was boring, lunch was boring, recess was boring, I just wanted to go home.
I walked through the crowded streets back to my apartment, but I felt like I was being followed. I stopped walking and looked around for a second, I spotted a swift movement in the crowd around me but decided that it was noting and kept walking.
A few minutes later I turned suddenly and saw the same movement behind a bush again. I glared at the bush for a second before a squirrel ran out. I shrugged it off and kept walking.

I entered my apartment silently, this was usually Pebbles’ naptime. I slipped off my shoes and dropped my bag in the couch carefully, I tip toed to my room and laid down. I sighed as I got comfortable on the warm and fluffy blankets.

BZZ BZZ

My phone chimed on the nightstand, I reached over and snatched it at lightning speed.

T: Hey, what’re you doing rn?

M: just got home, why???

T: I’m bored, let’s go out

M: aren’t you still on bed rest tho?

T: ok? I’m bored, let’s go out

M: where would we even be able to go, you can hardly walk, and my cuts still hurt?

T: you wanna come over, watch a movie?

M: are you sure, don’t you want to rest?

T: I’ve had enough rest, and I do want you over. Although if you decide to come I have to warn you, my sister’s been following you around school and told my entire family you’re my girlfriend

My breath hitched at the text…

M: what do u mean?

T: well Nezuko, being her, went to my class and asked some people who I’ve been hanging out with, they directed her to you, and she thought you were a girl and my girlfriend. I tried to explain but she wouldn’t listen, and then she told the entire family that I was secretly dating you. You can still come over though.

M: I get the feeling that I should be concerned but I’m really not, this happens more often than you think

T: -_- yeah I can imagine that

M: I can come over if you’re really that bored

T: oh my gosh please!

M: ok then I’ll be over in a bit

T: hey can I ask a favor if you’re coming?

M: sure, what is it?

T: pretend to be my girlfriend
