Chapter 18

Muichiro’s POV

I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing, Tanjirou, liking me, no not possible. I panicked and didn’t say anything for several minutes, I stared at his red ears the entire time to see if he was being 100% serious. In the end he just didn’t look at me, so I made him, when I saw the look in his eyes I knew. So I kissed him, and here we are.
His lips were softer than I expected, he didn’t protest or move away, so I assumed it was ok.

I was the one to break the kiss, I moved back to my seat next to him. I looked straight forward, my face felt really hot. “Um, I’m sorry, I should’ve asked if it was ok” I said.

“What? No, it’s fine I really liked it!” he said immediately.
“I-I liked it too” I said.
We just sat there for a few minutes, “Um, what now?” he asked.

“I don’t know, I’ve never done this before” I said.

“Wait, I thought you said you’ve had boyfriends before?” he said, sounding confused.

“I, I wait what, when did I say that?” I asked

“At dinner, when Hanako asked you, you said one or two?” he said, confused.

“That was a lie, I just said that for effect”

“Oh” he blushed madly and turned away, “I thought you were gay…”

“Well, I’m gay for you, but I’ve never really felt like this with anyone” I admitted.

“Ok, well then we should take this slow” he said, he turned to look at me.

“Take what slow?” I asked, almost scared to hear his answer.

“This relationship of course” he smiled brightly “Let me take you out on a legitimate date!”

I froze, I didn’t know what to say.

“Ok”

I looked into the mirror and sighed, I really didn’t want to, but I had to go to work. I gripped onto the edge of the bathroom counter and sighed loudly. I pulled on my scrubs and tied my hair back, I got ready as slow as possible. If I had it my way I would never go back there, but the universe doesn’t bend to my will, so I’m stuck. I had gotten several missed calls from work, well more like I just waited until the line cut out. But I had to go at some point, I don’t want to get fired.
I walked down the street slowly, by now I had gotten used to the cast, but I was worried about being able to move around in it.
I stood in front of the building, I could see Gina and Stacey working at the front desks through one of the front windows. I gripped onto the strap of my bag and miserably walked in.

“Muichiro, you’re back!” Gina shot up out of her chair as soon as she saw me, “Are you ok, what happened to your arm?”

“Um” I looked around nervously and shifted from foot to foot, “I was in an accident”

“Noah’s not here, he’s been fired and arrested, also the police want to talk to you. They said to call when you came by since they couldn’t reach you” Stacey said, not looking up from his computer, “I’m calling the cops to come talk to you, be ready” he said in his stoic voice. He may have sounded menacing to anyone else, but I knew Stacey just wanted to help, maybe talking to the police wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

“Alright” I said timidly, fiddling with my fingers. “Just page me when they get here” I said, as I took the pager from the counter, he nodded.

I walked into the game room.
“Muichiro, where have you been!?” Catherine started as soon as I entered, which started an uproar from all the seniors in the game room
