Just having dropped Maggie off at her apartment, Damian was startled by the vibration of his phone from inside his leather jacket. He immediately took it out and he realized that the number on his screen was not registered in his phone book. To get over with it, he decided to tap on the answer button and pick up the call.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Damian." A seductive female voice came from the other end of the line.
"Yes?"
"Remember me?" the woman asked.
"Uh...no?" the actor could not help but feel irritated at the caller.
First of all, he was already tired from the day's activity. Secondly, he was not the type to be trifled with especially by unnamed callers like the one he was currently talking with.
"You're so no fun! It's Amelia!" she said in an amused way, hitting another nerve in Damian's head.
"Ah, Amy."
"Yes, darling." She laughed in that ridiculous way again. "So, do you want to drink?"
Well, it was the subtlest way of saying he wanted to bed her — which would have sounded delightful if she had called him a year ago. At the moment, however, bedding his ex-lover was at the bottom of his list of pleasurable things.
"No."
"I'm kind of free tonight." Amy spoke in quite an enticing way, which would have made other men drool.
But not him.
"Well, I'm not." he replied in the most emotionless way that he could muster.
He heard the woman produce a lady-like snort from the opposite end of the line, causing his frown to deepen. For a moment, he pulled the phone away from his ear to look at the screen. He was already contemplating whether to cut off the call which was not even making any sense from when he picked it up. Then again, he felt that he at least owed her courtesy of ending the call properly. After all, he had fun during the couple of times that he had her warm his bed years ago.
"You don't sound like the Damian I used to have in my bed." She spoke breathily, making the actor unconsciously raise his ginger-colord brow.
"Look, Amy, I have to go. It's getting chilly outside."
She sighed, "All right. Just give me a call if you feel like hanging out. You know that I'm just a phone call away. Ciao!"
Damian could not thank the heavens enough that the exasperating call had finally ended. If he had to suffer for another minute listening to her faked sexually-arousing voice, he might have thrown his phone on to the road and have vehicles ran over it.
He was not usually irritated by women, as a matter of fact, he loved women especially when they were in his bed. But if someone would ask him why he was acting so differently that moment, he would not be able to give even one reason. Just the thought of having casual spending a night with different women, like how he usually did, was unexplainably disturbing for his sound mind.
The following day, Damian sent a message to Maggie that he would be picking her up at noon so they could spend longer time together than the previous night. He was still pretty much unsure about his intentions with regards to asking her out on two consecutive days. But he decided not to dwell much on wondering about it because he thought that what was most important was that he enjoyed his time with her. For some unknown reasons.
"Hey!" He heard Maggie calling out from the entrance of her apartment complex.
As she got closer, he noticed the sly look on her plump, reddened face. "Is that your standard incognito costume or something?"
