After buying themselves two steaming cups of coffee, they found themselves seated on a bench in the empty Rainbow Park. Unconsciously, Maggie positioned herself at the other end of the wooden bench leaving a two-feet space between her and Damian.
"Do you really have to sit so far away from me?" Damian broke the silence. but
Maggie almost spilled her coffee - given her habit of taking the lid off the coffee cup - but was able to steady her hold on the cup. Quickly sliding her gaze at the actor, she finally noticed the long stretch between the two of them.
"What?" Maggie asked.
"It's cold, you know." Damian replied in a matter-of-factly tone.
Shrugging her shoulders, she shimmied her hips sliding her body nearer to where he had seated himself. She looked at him pointedly before she took a generous sip of her chilling caffeinated drink.
"Tell me about yourself." the man suddenly spoke, halting Maggie from drinking.
Maggie lowered her paper cup to her lap and gave Damian sideway glance. "What do you want to know?"
"Tell me anything."
Maggie made a low sound in her throat and said, "I can't really think of anything."
The actor gave her an are-you-serious look which had prompted the nurse to huff at him. Upon taking another sip of coffee, she carefully placed the cup on the evened part of the bench between them.
"Okay, I am a nurse." she started, swinging her gaze at Damian.
"No way!" he replied, feigning surprise at her statement.
"Kidding aside," Maggie chuckled at his predictable response. "I'm twenty-five."
She watched his jaw drop slightly at her introduction, but the look of astonishment quickly vanished as quickly as it had appeared. Finally, nodding at what Maggie had said, she decided to move on to tell more about herself.
"I never really wanted to be a nurse. It was with my mother's persuasion that I ended up choosing this profession. How about you? Had it been your choice to enter this industry?" She noticed that the she had taken him aback by her question, but she was quite curious about him, too.
Maggie was sure that there was more about Damian than what the gossip columns and entertainment talk shows said about him. Having this opportunity to actually talk with him about anything without interference from anyone could be a lifetime experience for her. What else must she do - grab the chance!
"It was and it wasn't." he answered quite simply.
"Care to elabroate?" She asked.
"Not really." Damian sounded as if it was a topic that he rather not dwell on.
The nurse looked at him inquiringly, checking whether there was a chance for him to change his mind. But looking at the resolute expression on his chiseled face, she made up her mind to leave off of it until next time. If there would ever be a next time, that is.
"Well, is it true?" Maggie inquired.
"Which one?" Damian finally placed his empty cup next to hers.
"You and Catherine Maybury?" She clarified.
"Let's not go there, shall we?" he crossed his arms over his chest and raised his gaze to the cloudless night sky.
She could not tell if she had pissed him off or he was just being elusive about his life as an actor. Respecting his avoidance of the topic, she just sat back quietly and looked up to the sky like him.
