Magnet of trouble was just one of the descriptions one could say about Damian Williams. For 34 years, he had his fair share of life disturbances from car accidents to childish scuffles in bars. Once again, he had another stint in a drunken brawl in a bar that he frequented when he was on a break from his projects.
Terry Curtis, Damian’s manager, arrived fifteen minutes after she was called by her charge. Seconds of looking around the almost empty bar, she finally saw Damian seated in the dark corner.
She approached Damian and saw the redhead nursing what seemed like an aching cheek. His torso was bended forward, his elbows resting on his knees.
“What the hell is wrong with you, Williams?” Terry muttered exasperatedly.
It was quite common for her to come to him whenever he found himself in a bind. The current incident was not entirely the most serious of all the troubles Damian had ever gotten himself into. In fact, this brawl was a mild one compared to the fight that he had with a band vocalist two years ago.
“Believe it or not, I was not the instigator,” Damian responded, his speech still slurred from alcohol intoxication.
“God, Damian.” The only reaction Terry could come up with at the moment.
Of course, Terry could keep the ordeal in the shadows by plying the bar and the witnesses with money. Fortunately, Damian had plenty of it after having a flourishing career in the industry for the past 12 years. However, the manager wondered until when she could watch out for him until he got embroiled in a devastating scandal.
Well, she was certain that she would cover up for him to as far as she could manage, especially that he was the most talented actor she had ever met and she would ever get the chance to handle. As a matter of fact, she would make a pact with the devil just so she could protect him, his name and his thriving career. She would go so far just for him, just for him.
Damian’s was growing more sober as he lied on his back on the emergency room’s bed. The curtain was drawn close just to avoid any curious person from discovering his beaten state. It would make a big news on TV if someone was able to get the scoop of his current condition. Terry would surely beat the living daylight out of him if that happened.
Pondering about his whereabouts, he realized that it had only been a month since he was admitted to the same hospital. And upon remembering was he reminded of a certain brown-haired, dark-eyed nurse. Margaret.
Suddenly, he wondered if Maggie was currently on duty. It would be a remarkable reunion if she was to find him all bruised in the ER. He chuckled at the reaction that he might actually receive from the most compassionate nurse that he had ever got to encounter.
“Mr Williams,” he heard someone calling out from outside the curtain.
“Yes?”
He watched as a lanky man in light blue scrubs and white coat drew the curtain to the side. Upon entering, he instantly pull the curtain back to avoid the other people in the ER from seeing who was inside.
“I am Doctor Hewitt. I would just like to inform you that there is no need for admission. Upon checking your lab works and x-ray result, I could say that there’s nothing alarming.” The middle-aged man explained, a friendly smile pasted on his face.
“Excellent.” Damian muttered, stopping himself from speaking longer because of the pain on his right cheek and the cut on his lower lip.
“We are going to process your documents then you may leave anytime you feel that you are able to walk.” The doctor added before leaving.
