"we're eating now!" i heard a loud voice say, causing both me and ron to jump and quickly move away from eachothers faces. i turned around to see fred. wow. obviously fred would be the one to stop me and ron from kissing. oh my god, me and ron were about to kiss..

"erm..right..o-ok coming" i stuttered. we both stood up and walked either side of fred back to the party.

"i'm gonna go see mum" ron said awkwardly.

"oh ok, see you later" i said before he walked off. i turned to fred who was grinning from ear to ear.

"what!" i shouted.

"what we're you and ron doing then?" he said while winking.

"don't start" i said as we got closer to everyone else.

"i'm not doing anything! it's about time you two did something about whatever's going on between you's" he shrugged.

"nothings going on, i don't know why it was happening. just forget it fred please" i begged.

"fine fine, oh georgie look what i just saw!" he shouted as he spotted george. brilliant, thanks a lot fred.

"oh hey, where you been?" hermione asked as i walked over to her, i look around to see ron and harry getting food.

"me and ron went for a little picnic, it was lovely" i said with a smile.

"anything happen?" she winked and smiled, in hopes i would spill something interesting.

i looked around to check ron or harry weren't anywhere near before whispering. "we nearly kissed"

"WHAT!" she yelled.

"hermione shush!" i said quietly.

"ok ok sorry, how? when? what happened?" she said quickly.

"i don't know we just both started lean in, but before anything could happen fred came over"

"oh my god! so he likes you! and you like him!"  she said excitedly.

"i don't think he likes me. i don't think he was thinking, it was kinda just in the heat of the moment" i said.

"oh come on y/n i know your not that stupid" she said, giggling.

"oh hi y/n" i heard a voice from behind me say, i turned around to see harry. "hi! how's the party going" i asked.

"great, but hermione's a better dancer than me" he laughed. ron shortly came and sat down next to him with a plate full of food.

"how could you possibly eat anymore?" i laughed. i decided i'd go on with life as if nothing had happened, it seemed like the best thing to do.

"do you even know me?" he laughed and dug in.

"hey, i think i'm gonna go for a walk" i said to everyone.

"oh okay, see you soon" hermione smiled. as i stood up to walk away i felt ron grab my arm. he tilted his head indicating for me to come closer.

"you alright?" he whispered in my ear.

"yeah i'm fine, see you soon" i said as i squeezed his hand. i set of walking, soon enough, i was back at the river. i took a seat on the blanket and stared at the river in an attempt to figure out how i was feeling. suddenly, i heard rustling, i turned my head to see flopsy hopping towards me.

"oh hello there babe" i said as i picked her up and placed her on my lap.

"oh flopsy, what am i gonna do?" i said.

i decided i was gonna speak to ron about it, to try figure out if it actually meant anything to him. luckily, he'd came to see me.

"hi" he murmured.

"hello" i said as he sat down next to me.

"you sure your okay?" he asked.

"yeah i'm fine" i reassured him. "oh and about before-" i began.

"oh it's fine. just forget about it, it didn't mean anything right?" he said calmly.

"oh, yeah, right" my smile quickly faded. it felt like my heart had dropped to my stomach.

"i'm gonna head back, i'm tired. see you later" i said quickly before taking flopsy of my lap and walking quickly back to the burrow, not giving ron a chance to say anything.

*rons pov*

oh you idiot ron! why would you say that! of course it bloody meant something. i watched y/n walk away, i wanted to stop her but i felt to stupid i just couldn't.

"oh flopsy what have i done?" i said to the bunny sat on the blanket next to me. i stood up and headed back to the party.

"can i speak to you two away from the party?" i said to harry and hermione who were dancing.

"yeah what's up?" harry asked as we walked away.

"okay i'm just gonna come out and say it, i like y/n like a lot and i just gave her a big impression that i don't and i don't know what to do" i rambled.

"oh god ron, you idiot"
