"so tell me more about this mystery girl" i said smiling at ron.

"well, she's very pretty, and funny" he said smirking at the ground. i was about to speak when cedric walked over.

"hi y/n, can we go for a walk?" he said.

"oh erm, i'm with ro-" i began before ron cut me off. "it's okay, i'll see you soon?" he said. i smiled and nodded at him before he walked over to hermione and harry.

"so, get anything nice for christmas?" cedric said.

"yeah, ron got me a friendship necklace" i said twirling it in my fingers.

"oh that's nice, i was just gonna ask- would you want to go out with me to hogsmeade tomorrow?" he said.

"like a date?" i asked before thinking, he obviously meant a date.

he chuckled and nodded his head.

"oh, yeah sure" i said smiling. i may aswell give him a chance.

"oh um i'm going to get back to my friends, but i'll see you tomorrow?" i said beginning to walk away.

"yeah, see you later" cedric replied. i found my friends by a tree.

"what was he talking about?" hermione asked.

"he asked me on a date" i said widening my eyes and smiling.

"really?" ron said.

"yes really.. why do you sound so shocked?" i replied.

"i thought you didn't like him" he said in quite a rude tone.

"i'm giving him a chance, atleast i try" i said beginning to get defensive.

"atleast i don't lead people on! atleast i'm not selfish" ron said shouting.

i felt my eyes prickling with tears. i'm anything but selfish. how could he? i didn't say anything. i just stood there. hermione tried to comfort me but i pulled away and began to walk back to the dorm. "y/n wait" ron said.

"no, enjoy today guys" i said trudging through the snow.

i heard hermione shouting for me to come back, but i ignored it. as i walked to the dorm the tears that had been prickling in my eyes a few moments before were now streaming down  my cheeks. i walked quickly through the courtyard with my head facing the ground. until i bumped into someone.

"y/n?" someone said, i looked up and it was draco.

"what?" i asked, wiping the tears away.

"what's wrong?" he asked.

"nothing, but thanks" i replied walking away.

when i got to the dorm i flopped down on the bed, grabbing my pillow and holding it tight. i heard a knock at the door and quickly wiped my tears away.

"yes?" i said sitting up. hermione walked in giving me a sympathetic smile.

"he didn't mean it" she said sitting down next to me.

"why would he say that though?" i asked.

"i'm not too sure, i think he's jealous"

"why would he be jealous?"

"because your getting close to cedric. he's probably scared of losing you" she said rubbing my back.

"he won't though, we've been bestfriends for so long"

"i know. just give him a chance to make it up to you" she said.

"maybe"

"cmon, your so stubborn y/n!" she said, giggling. me and hermione spent the rest of the day walking around the castle talking about our usual topics.

a few weeks passed and me and ron still weren't talking, he'd tried to a few times but i shut him off. me and cedric had been getting very close, but only as friends. and we both knew that. but today was the day of the second task.

"i'm nervous" i admitted while me and hermione were getting ready to head there. i was the person cedric would be rescuing from the lake.

"you'll be fine, don't worry" she said giving me a reassuring smile.

we headed there and i had a spell put on me before being placed in the lake. i woke up at the surface, with ced smiling at me.

"well done!" i said as we swam towards everybody. hermione helped pull me up. as cedric finished first, i had to watch everyone coming up after him. last to finish was harry, but he came to the surface with fleur delacour's younger sister and ron. they all swam over. ron was pulled up next to me.

"you okay?" i said, kind of forgetting we weren't speaking, but i still cared about him.

"yeah, you?" he said, giving me a small smile.

"yeah" after that it got abit awkward, but this was the first time speaking in weeks so it was bound to be. dumbledore shouted for everyone's attention, causing our heads to turn.

"the winner is.. cedric diggory!" i jumped up and ran over to him, hugging him. viktor krum was initially announced second place, but because harry saved both ron and fleurs sister, he had gained extra points and won second place. afterwards all of the griffyndors headed back to the common room to celebrate harry's heroic moment. i figured this was a good time to sort things out with ron, i missed him. he was my bestfriend. i couldn't see him in the common room, so i headed to his room to see if i could find him. i knocked on the door and said "ron" before walking in, to my surprise, there was lavender. him and lavender. sitting on the bed. kissing.

"oh. i'm sorry" i said, awkwardly.

"oh y/n, everything okay?" he asked, pulling away.

"yeah, enjoy your night guys. i'll speak to you tomorrow ron" i said. he looked as if he was about to say something, but he didn't. so i walked out.

writers note: hi i'm sorry this is a boring chapter but i promise it'll get better. also i'm only doing one of these cos it's got a couple reads lol :)
