CHAPTER 1: Average day with Turner and Jack
Today started like any old day in my very . . . routine life . I got on the bus as the rest of the kids played and laughed along. I found an empty seat and sat my bag in between my legs. I personally don't like a lot of noise so I just wait for my step sister and her boyfriend to get on the bus while I try and read. Jackie isn't the smartest but what she lacks in smarts she more than makes up for in looks she has pretty blonde hair and blue eyes completely different from her dad's creepy gray looking ones. Jackie has hundreds of guys texting her, I'm sure if her notifications were on, her phone would have a heart attack. James, her boyfriend, doesn't like a lot of the guys on Jackie's phone and the fact that she wont delete them off it even more. James is a star baseball player with dark brown hair and dark blue eyes. Even though he can be kind of an ass sometimes I kind of admire him in some ways. He has the looks, the bod, and the friends. All of which I am lacking. My friends are my books, and oh yeah one creepy kid named Henry that eats his boogers when he's nervous. He's one of those bubble kids I read about. Every allergy in the book including the covers. But, I just try and stay to myself. What can ya do. Oh and me my name is Louie. I guess you could say I'm a kind of average looking 8th grader, I have red curly hair and a lot of freckles around my nose, mom calls them the angel kisses but. Turner and Jack, the school bullies like to call them my shit sprinkles. They're fine honestly they don't bother me too much except before, after, and during school. I think I even got my ass kicked on Sunday morning. They beat me so hard I shit myself. But the funny thing is that that's what they called Holly beating. Oh, and Mom she's sweet after dad died on the job we moved to Florida. And i really wanted to go to Disma before it shut down after some freak . . . ..
Ah! What the hell? I said as my head slammed in the seat in front of me. God. this is so annoying.
What the hell old man who let you drive the bus. Said James as he stood up in his seat
Your mother thats who Now shut the fuck up and sit your fat ass down, im trying to hatch this egg he said as he was starring at his phone. The doors swung open and my step sister and James got on the bus.
"Hey sport", James said, you know the routine he said talking about the me sitting on the very end of the already uncomfortable seat.
Yeah I know I know I said shuffling to the side of the seat so they could have the window seat like every day.
James looked over and saw what I was reading "What the hell are you reading these books for anyways? Aren't you interested in attracting any girls?" he said grabbing one of my most prized collections
"Hey give it back!" I said as I lunged across my sisterAccidentally knocking my step sister's brown powder out of her hands, she screeched like a little girl not getting her way (It was only funny to me because she was wearing a white shirt) "Get off me you little creep. Keep your little grimy fingers away from my chest!"
Noticing he was making his "Beloved" Angry (her poor little heart ) he said "Here squirt, take it". As he threw it at my head. Letting the book open up on a chapter I haven't seen yet.
Huh what this? The Title of the Chapter said in its bold font "Modern robotics integrated into Dismas social friends program with a quote in their signature "Magic" font " Where dreams come true and make a friend from me to you" WIth a creepy picture which looked like a little boy but the right half of his face had these weird gears and motors. I've always loved Disma but this is one thing that legitimately freaks me out.
The Bus stops and I'm ready to start the day of a small student in a big, overcrowded, school. I start the day with English with my Southern teacher who tries her hardest to act cool with the ghetto kids. She's one of those teachers that will literally try and convince a 6 ft 2 Goliath built dude whose only passion is music to join the football team. It's mildly amusing honestly. Next was, Science with, Dr. E ,a very smart Indian lady who was once an actual biologist so you can imagine what she's like. Then there was lunch where I sat in a small group I normally wouldn;t even bring up the thirty odd minutes of sitting and staring at shitty school slob. But today was different. I was doing the same thing I usually did and sat and read my books and I was just on the right chapter I saw on the bus and then tweedle dee and tweedle dumbass decided to smack the back of my head.
How are you doing Loogie? Sitting all by yourself again he said as he was trying to get his rather large ass on the table.
Yeah Loser, no one thinks you're worth hanging out with? Said Turner, coming so close I can smell his Dads cigarette spit on his face.
Not even breaking away from my book I said, " Don't you guys have anything better to do than go somewhere you aren't wanted? Oh wait, you wouldn't even have a place to call home would you.'
Turner slammed the book down in the tray " I'm tired of your little attitude runt."
Yeah maybe we need to kick your ass like we did last time. Said the fatso in the backAt this point the entire lunchroom is watching and Turner notices before I do just fueling the ego this manic craves. He grabs me by while collar and then our S.O. pops up behind him,
Excuse me Mr. Tabernacle do I need to light your ass up with 25,000 volts like last time. "Or do the two holes on your left ass cheek not remind you enough."."Yes sir" Turner said as he slowly let go of my shirt but just before he let go he whispered in my ear " You're going to regret saying that you snot nosed little brat."
They slowly walked away as SO Smith eyed them until they left the lunch room.
Officer Smith is a big black man with a bald reflection giving head a a well groomed nice beard/ thing. He is the only person I've been genuinely terrified off. Everything about the man screams intimidating. From his protruding brow down to his huge pecks. But all that goes away with his certain catchphrase which i despise.
"Hey little buddy," he said, sitting next to me " Why don't you ever stand up for yourself? Are you going to let them pick on you forever?".
"Isn't that what you're here for?" I said while I grabbed my bag and wiped the spit off my cheeks.
He's oddly been obsessed with being my personal body guard when he's around, I honestly have no idea why."I can't be here forever yah know!" he called out.
I spun around and called back, " I don't plan on it !".And what else can I say the rest of the day came off as pretty normal or at least most of it did. I went to my last two classes almost passed out from boredom like I do. And while I woke up from my deep slumber just five minutes before the last bell rang. The old ladies voice upfront called
SCREECH . . . ."Mr. Henderson, Mr. Louie Henderson, can you please come to the front office you're getting picked up today" SCREECH . . . .
"Oh come on not again. "I thought to myself as I was walking to the front office. She overreacts to the stuff every time. It's just the common everyday bullying that unfortunate experience and the lucky ones watch. I walked up the hall and saw my mom with tears in her eyes again and what? Mr Smith talking to her. I told him not to call anymore.
Just as soon as I walked through the door mom rushed down a cocooned me in her arms. Slurring her words with a big breath followed by more crying.Looking down Officer Smith said "I'm sorry little buddy, Momma bears orders.".
Yeah yeah yeah, let's just go home. I'm tired and just want to go to bed. I said while practically dragging my mother out of there. Usually I would argue and try and explain it was no big deal, but when she gets like that there's no really getting through to her. We got in the car, buckled up and I put in my earbuds to try and ignore the swervy ride home. We live on the outskirts of town so there was plenty of time to sleep in between the small gap between my house and the school. But, there's only so much danger you can close your eyes too. Eventually, I gave up and opened my eyes to see mom talking to herself while mascara ran down her face, like usual.Just trying to fill the time I decided It would be a perfect time to read my most prized collection. I opened up the main compartment, it wasn't there. What the Hell? It NEVER leaves the main compartment. The anxiety spiked and i began checking everywhere. Front pocket, back pocket, side pockets nothing. I even began retracing my steps to the last place I had ittttt . . . Oh shit. I frantically turned my book upside upside down and a little crumpled piece of paper fell out with all the other books in there. This isn't mine I thought. And I was right, I picked up the balled up piece of paper that said "MISSINg SuMETHIN RUNT!?!?!?" In red in and mispelled yep this was Turners note all right. I turned the note around and it had a familiar address on the back. " 142 Oak Wood Dr. . . . .. DU NOT TEL YOUR PARENT OR THE BOOK IS GONE "
