[The Maze Runner - 1]
Tired. That's all Rory felt all day, she's taken Chuck under her wing like a mother and older sister in one. He fit in easily, everyone loved him. He also ended up working as a slopper unfortunately, doing the jobs no one else really wanted to do like the cleaning and running errands. Its been a month since Chuck came up in the box and everyday she made sure chuck was asleep before her, making sure the boy was safe and comfortable.
Then occasionally after that her and Newt would go on walks in the grass while talking about anything that would come to mind or just walk in silence since the two had talked about practically anything they could remember. Last night was one of those long nights so when she woke up all she wanted to do was go back to sleep, eventually she fell asleep in the med-jack cabin. Only waking up to the Box alarm.
Rory jumped, the siren was loud and irritating making the girl grimace a little. She got up slowly and jogged over to the box, pushing to the front in between Newt and Gally. The all to familiar buzzing noise of the concrete slab opening filled everyone's ears. Rory put on a smile since all the boys looked grumpy as usual, whoever was coming up needed a little bit of reassurance. Two of the Gladers opened up the box and Gally jumped inside.
"Gally leave the poor boy alone" Rory joked since she knew Gally was trying to be intimidating.
"Day one greenie" Gally spoke, looking down at the boy "rise and shine" He pulled the new boy up and the others helped him out as others unloaded the box. All the guys surrounded around the new boy, Rory sighed and pushed into the middle beside newt as the others laughed. The greenie stumbled before jumping up and pushing between Alby and Frypan, he started running further into the glade.
Everyone except Rory cheered as he ran, she felt for the boy despite it being a little embarrassing on his behalf she understood how intimidating it was to be surrounded by many unfamiliar faces. Clint called out that he would be a good runner and Rory agreed until he tripped and face planted making everyone burst out in laughter. Even Rory chuckled a little at that but it was mainly because the Gladers haven't laughed together like that in a long time.
When the new boy stood up the boys started clapping making Rory roll her eyes "alright alright, we get it. There's a new boy. Everyone get back to work" She yelled, surprisingly everyone listened and headed back to their stationed work places. Two baggers grabbed the greenie and put him into the slammer so he didn't run out into the maze. Newt and Rory walked around for a little since it was a nice day and neither had anything to do just yet.
Alby took it upon himself to give the greenie his tour since Rory was enjoying the day and not working her life away like usual. Rory and Newt found Alby so the two walked over to them, Newts arm over Rory's shoulder and Rory swaying to a tune she was humming.
"You alright Alby" Newt spoke up
"Al!" Rory stated
"Green bean meet newt, when I'm not around he's in charge" Alby introduced the two and they shook hands, Rory coughed to get the attention of Alby although it was a joke between them to act like the other was invisible "you hear that?"
"idiot" Rory mumbled and moved from newts side to shove Alby "I'm Rory, nice to meet you"
"only girl around here so she's like a sister to most of us" Alby chuckled and put Rory in a headlock before ruffling her hair. She groaned and elbowed Alby before going back to standing beside newt.
"you know that was some dash you made out of ya. For a second i thought you'd have the chops to be a runner, till you face planted" Newt mocked.
"play nice newt" Rory raised her eyebrows and nudged his shoulder
"you two do me a favour and find chuck" Alby nodded at Rory and Newt
"on it boss" Rory rolled her eyes and saluted before grabbing newts hand and walking to to find chuck.
"Are they like, together?" Thomas asked Alby when the two where far enough away
"Nope, their head over heels for each other but neither want to admit it" Alby replied with a chuckle. Newt and Rory eventually found chuck cleaning out an area for the greenie to sleep, when he saw the two The raven haired girl and the young boy hugged before explaining that he needed to go speak to Alby and the greenie, most likely to give him a more in depth tour of the place and go over other things while Alby is busy.
Minho and Ben finally came back from running there sections of the maze and headed over to Rory who was going to clear the odd scratches the two had gotten. It was a five minute job but because the two where some of her closest friends in the glade she offered to clean them up despite Clint and Jeff (two of her other close friends) working the same job. Suddenly a bunch of shouting was heard throughout the glade and the three made there way over.
Turns out Gally had pushed the Greenie away from the entrance to the maze and he wasn't so happy about that.
"You guys cant just keep me here" The greenie exclaimed as Rory went over to Gally to calm him down.
"We cant let you leave" Alby stated
"why not" Suddenly a familiar growling sound was heard throughout the concrete walls of the maze and a strong wind slipped through the gates. Gally protected his and Rory's eyes from the flying dust and leaves until the gates started to close.
"Next time, I'm gonna let you leave" Gally spoke before walking away, Rory following close behind to make sure the boy had calmed down before going back to his job. Rory, Gally and Chuck all sat together on a picnic bench, Chuck telling a story while the other two listened. When he was done, Gally had calmed down massively and went back to building whatever they where building.

- Mama Rory. I swear I've somehow made her the mum of the glade, first of all she's a medic so she can care for all of them and then she's also emotional support to them all.
