Aurora knocked on the door lightly just in case Newt had woken up and decided to change, after she got no reply she turned the handle and walked into the room. Newt had one arm dangling off the side of the table and one resting over his eyes trying to block out the bright morning sun. No one in the glade was awake except Rory so she made sure she was quiet when walking around the glade.
Rory took the seat next to the medical table and looked out of the window, the view wasn't the best but it was calming when no one was about. A gentle hand rested on her shoulder, Rory smiled and put her hand over Newts and ran little circles over his knuckle. She could practically feel his weak smile as the two silently connected.
"how are you Newt" Rory turned around, the two still holding hands except they now rested on the side of the table.
"could be better if I'm being honest" Newt smiled weakly, his eyes slightly glossed over
"we think your leg may be broken, its swelling up and extremely bruised. Do you feel any pain" Rory asked as she returned his smile
"it hurts so much but I'm putting on a brave face" Newt chuckled a little
"well I'm going to wrap it up and your not going to be doing anything until you feel better" Rory got up and grabbed the bandages, Newt grimaced and lifted up the cover. His leg was several shades of purple and looked extremely uncomfortable. Rory gently wrapped up his leg but made it tight enough that his leg will heal nicely "do you want to talk about it" She smiled as she pulled the cover back over his leg.
"yeah i do" Newt took a deep breath, Rory sat beside him and took his hand again. Tracing shapes on his knuckles "even though when i came out that box all my memories where missing... I could still feel like something was missing. I felt empty despite everyone being friendly with me, despite you being the nicest person here i just couldn't handle it...so when i got chosen to be a runner it was like my mind just switched"
"it was my chance to escape all those emotions so yesterday i ran into the maze, found the tallest wall i could, climbed up the vines and jumped off it" The boy continued, not breaking the eye contact between them. Both their eyes prickling with tears "then Minho found me, went to find Alby and here we are. I don't want to tell anyone the truth Rory, they'll think of me as weak and I'm not i just... had a moment. I'm sorry"
"no don't apologise. I understand, i felt like that when i first got here too. I promise it gets better Newt. I wont tell anyone, we can just say you had a bad trip" Rory assured, Newt nodded before sighing
"I don't want to go back in there Rory" A tear fell from Newts brown eyes, Rory wiped the tear and nodded
"ill put in a word okay now rest. Ill bring you breakfast" Rory reassured and gave him a soft smile before leaving newt. Rory lined up beside Minho and Alby to get breakfast, when they got to the front Rory asked frypan to make up an extra plate for her to bring to newt. He obviously agreed and then the three grabbed a table to start eating.
"Is newt okay, he looked roughed up when i last saw him" Minho asked as he ate
"He's a lot better, he has a broken leg and a lot of bruises but other than that he's good" Rory confirmed
"is he awake, did he tell you what happened" Alby added as he looked over towards the cabin that newt was in
"he fell and couldn't catch himself in time, ended up smacking his head against the ground and knocking himself unconscious" Rory sighed, finishing of her food and looking around the glade "i know its against the rules but can we give newt a new job, he was good at being a track-hoe"
"Yeah we just have to hope our next Glader is a good runner" Alby smiled and Rory nodded before getting up.
"Hey Rory!" Minho called before she could walk away "look out for him yeah, i think out of anyone he trusts you the most" Rory nodded and blushed a little "an by the looks of it you enjoy his company"
"oh shut it shank" Rory laughed and went to grab newt his plate of food and walked back towards the cabin. On the way back she passed Gally who was still relatively new to the glade, he was about five months in. She sent him a smile which he returned, despite the obvious 'mean' look he gives everyone he was actually nice. Definitely had soft spots for certain people including Rory.
She knocked on the door lightly before hearing a small 'come in' from the other side. Rory headed inside and handed Newt the plate, he smiled gratefully before he started eating. The dark haired girl put her hair (that she had just trimmed herself) into a small ponytail before sitting beside Newt's bed.
"so what's it like being a girl in a group of guys" Newt asked when he was done with his food.
"strange, in some way there like my brothers but at the same time would drop anything and everything to be around me if i showed them a little bit of interest. Well everyone except Alby, Minho and Gally. Everyone else is a pervy brother" Rory joked, probably not using the best analysis of it.
"right and what about me" Newt chuckled
"depends, you wanna be a pervy brother or a best friend" Rory joined in with the laughter
"best friend, i don't think i would like to be called pervy" Newt exclaimed, the two ended up spending the day in the cabin. Jeff and Clint took any of the small jobs since there wasn't big injuries often and if there was then its most likely because they hurt themselves on purpose to get Rory to treat them.

- I'm soft for Newt and Rory omg. At the moment they are brotp but it wont be long until they start realising feelings are there and shit i promise!!
- Also its un-necessary but chuck has my heart so next chapter is talking about chuck!
